Underworld 3

Post by Treebore »

I am one of those ones who admit to liking this "series", and I am hyped about the newest one:

Now if the sequal to "Dog Soldiers" gets out soon...

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Ya. It looks pretty cool.

But im jazzed about the Watchmen.

Now that the idiot Fox lawsuit seems to be resolved, the movie is going to be out on time.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans looks pretty cool. Lots of the players from the original Underworld, plus Rhona Mitra = win. Viktor is the best vampire in cinema history... Bill Nighy just rules so damn much. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this one too. I didn't like Underworld: Evolution too much, mainly because the director got a budget and it got away from him too much. Underworld 3 looks to be fun.

I recently caught a large bit of one of the earlier movies (having never seen them) and liked it a real lot. Enough so, that I want to rent the movies. And this trailer looks darn good.

Rent? Just buy the DVDs outright. The movies are excellent. I love them both.

Yes I liked the series even if it was White Wolf's baby.

White Wolf sued Lakeshore Entertainment and Sony Pictures over the allegation that Underworld images, names and depictions were owned by White Wolf.

White Wolf lost the case or was dismessed. I think dismissed if I remember correctly.

Dismissed/lost, pretty much the same thing. Heck, I read the lawsuit submitted a couple of months ago, it was pretty darn weak to begin with. I think the only reason they even tried to sue is they are one of the types of people who think copyright law gives some kind of iron handed protection. IT doesn't, except in the cases like if someone uses Peter's artwork without his permission.

Underworld stole nothing from White Wolf. The ideas of how wolves and vampires work, their weaknesses and strengths, and even the idea of were wolves and vampires fighting each other have been around since long before White Wolf created World of Darkness. They certainly didn't steal any artwork or even words unique to WoD. It was a stupid and groundless lawsuit to begin with. Which is obvious now, since they lost/settled out of court and still aren't listed in the movie credits. At least not on the websites movie credits section. I'm not one to sit there and read the movie credits when the movie is over.

Rest assured, White Wolf is not in the movie credits for UW1 or UW2. And as Treebore stated, should never be.

By a werewolf and a vampire fighting it out. Monte Cook won.

You know, I have heard that, but every time I have searched I have only found things about it being filed, never settled or dismissed. I only know WW lost because they aren't given any credits in the movies.

The details of a settlement out of court, can remain entirely private to the parties, if they so choose. Often a settlement is made, solely for that purpose, a court case must be public record. A settlement does not. Probably why you've been unable to find any info on what happened.
