Ordered this card game and the expansions and got it in the mail on monday.

Pretty damn cool game. Fun and easy. My 7 y/o absolutely loves it too. Me and him have played 2 games so far (he kicked my ass both times). He's already smack talking me about how bad he'll beat me tomorrow so it must be a hit with him.

Definitely worth checking out if you haven't yet.

Have you tried the character Kanira? I've yet to see her in play and am curious how it comes out, because I designed her.
Love the game -- very easy to play. I hope Kerry releases the "add-on" in development soon.

Nah, my son was the Counts Twin yesterday and The Swordsman today. I was the goblin yesterday and the Dragonlord today.

I noticed you designed the Kanira card, very cool.

My wife said she's gonna join me and my son in our game tomorrow. Think she plans on trying Kanira. If so I'll let you know how it goes.

The game is freaking addicting man.

Yes, it is addictive. I think that is because it is so simple and quick. A game can take around 20 minutes and that's hardly anything for a game of its nature. We played it as a "pick up" but spent the entire night doing nothing but Adventurer. Course, that was before the expansions... so I've not see them in actual play (except for some solo playtesting.)

Yesterday we played the original deck. Today we added in the expansions.

The expansions added some real cool bits to the game.

Yep, cool game. The addons add cool elements to the game and change the nature of how you can actually win, which is nifty. I tend to enjoy more complex card games like Race for the Galaxy and Dominion but this game is a lot of fun due in part to its roleplaying roots and dice rolling.

Yeah, it is pretty simple but thats why it fits my needs perfectly. Our 7 y/o "Gamer in Training" loves it.

Last night, after he scored some treasure card, he excitedly proclaimed, 'Dad! This game is awesome! We're playing tomorrow too right?"

I swear. Losing to a kid 3 days in a row is bad enough. The smack talk is a little too much though.

I know this is probably asking a lot, but how long is it going to be before someone creates a card game in which the cards aren't laid out exactly like M:TG?

Heh.

I've managed to remain ignorant of all things M:tG for the past 15 years, I hadn't even noticed.

You mean with a pic at the top and boxed text underneath? Dunno, it works pretty well. I don't know how else you would lay them out to present the necessary info with a pleasant aesthetic but Im sure it could be done. Having said that, there are VAST differences in a game like Race for the Galaxy and M:tG. First of all, anyone looking at the arcane symbology on the RFTG cards would be completely lost without a working knowledge of the rules. I find RFTG to be a far more complex game with deeper core strategies and a bit less luck involved, but Ill admit to a deep and abiding disdain for M:tG after having blown literally thousands of dollars on it in the early-mid nineties with nothing to show for it later but a pile of useless (read: not tournament legal) cards mostly with little dollar value. The only cards that netted me some real profit were my collection of beta moxes and black lotus, but they werent cheap in the first place since I bought them shortly after unlimited was released.

Would not be hard to have the image on the left, card title on the top, and the text for the card on the right, but that might not look right. Many people people prefer the way the card layout is now. If, however, you mean "in game layout" then you're sorely mistaken. Adventurer does not play out like Magic -- yeah, yuo have a character card, and pick up treasure, and the cards get turned around to represent how much health is left, but that's about it.

Serl, my wife used the card you designed last night. Didn't get to get a reall good feel for it though since she was drawing mostly traps, stationary objects and the like. By the time she got a minion my son kicked the counts ass rather early in the game.

Maybe in our nightly game tonight I'll get to tell you more.

Ah, that would be annoying. Heh, seems to be the standard -- have a cool ability and never get the chance to use it.

Yep, that's how it usually goes.

One thing I'm getting a kick out of is that my son apparently has the Gamer Gene in him pretty strong. He's already bouncing House Rules off me for the game.

We might try a few of them tonight.

Looks pretty neat. I love card games (not like poker or anything like that) but I hate collectibles. Seems like it is right up my alley.
