What exactly are the offending acts? AFAIK, game mechanics can't be copyrighted, so unless some other distinctive "thing" is a feature of the offending product....

Sales. Ie, loss of profits. WotC is planning on making those exact things, and someone offering them for free cuts the almighty wallet.

At least, that's how I was told it was working. Whether its true is left to those who dabble (or care) for the legalities.

Yeah, that never made sense to me, though. I'd figure many, if not most, people would be spurred to get the "official" product after checking out the unofficial stuff.

This seems to be getting like the old days of LW's TSR. I wonder what this portents?
