Advice: Gonna buy some c&c products. Any suggestions???

Post by LordSeurek »

So my 5 year anniversary with my wife (together, 1.5 married) is coming up next month and she is buying me some gaming stuff. 4E doesn't interest me, I have everything WOTC put out for 3X, but only have 2 c&c books, phb, and m&t

Anyone give me some suggestions on some c&c adventures/handbooks/etc that are popular?

As well, any other d20 content is welcome as I include a lot of different spells/monsters/magic items in my c&c FR games.

Cheers,

L.S.

The DB Series. It'll give you a supremely worthwhile campaign setting and countless adventures.

Yup!
Also, Towers of Adventure.

I agree, I think you'll like the Haunted Highlands/DB series a lot.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I second both those recommendations. The DB series (Haunted Highlands) is really turning out to be something special. Towers of Adventure is pretty nifty for throwing together a scenario quickly.

If you'd prefer something more setting-related, the After Winter's Dark folio is a nice item. But then I like maps and material to steal from.

C1 mortality of green and C2 shades of mist are pretty good too. And could blend into Haunted Highlands easy enough, just need a big forest to the east or west.

Yeah, it is time for you to get the Airhde Folio, so you know what Wenefar is all about.

Put in another vote for the Haunted Highlands. You can pick up the Codex of Edre pretty cheap some places too if you're looking for an intro in to the official C&C world.

I got my copy here (brand new) for about $6 (*including* shipping).

Agree with the Folio suggestion.

I'd say Engineering Dungeons and Castellan's Guide to Arms and Armor, also. The A series of modules also get my vote.

Serious reply: Yet another vote for the DB (Haunted Highlands) series. Casey (Bowbe) Christofferson writes good stuff. And the "A" series looks good, too.

Silly reply: Just buy the entire catalog. You'll have lots of stuff to paw through, and the Trolls can have a major beer bust. Win-win.

And let us not forget C&C products from Adventure Games Publishing, such as the excellent XXXI, the 2008 Wilderlands Jam, or the forthcoming Monsters & Treasures of the Wilderlands 1!

L.S.

Congrats on the 5 years, by the way hope the baby is doing well and that you are getting more sleep than I am...

Honestly I have not got a TLG book that I would say isn't a good book. I cant talk about the books that have come out after Christmas because I haven't had a chance to get them yet.

Top of my list is the Codex of Edre -I now not on their site any more but I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

DB is a good series and I'm just now getting into the A series so would put them up there too.

I know you like magic/spell books but unfortunately TLG doesn't have any of them at this time

For the D2o stuff, my wife got me the Fast Forward "devils and demons encyclopedia" and there are some great monsters in there.

Good stuff there too!

Speaking of little sleep, baby V2 is waking up from her nap -and it's Mommy's Saturday afternoon off" so time to run!

Cool guys, thanks for all the suggestions! I'll be sure to do some research on the products. Thanks btw Les, baby is doing great, finally starting to get the little one on some sort of schedule, and mommy and daddy surely need it

I'd go with the A" series modules, the Airhde Folio and/or the Codex of Erde.

Yes, indeed, don't forget the Adventure Games stuff. Even if you are not interested in the Wilderlands as a setting, James has a bunch of great stuff that are easily incorporated into a setting of your choice. I just wish he didn't have to sleep, so he could publish his stuff faster!

My top votes are for C1 and C2 if you want to start fairly self-contained, along with the After Winter's Dark Folio.

Let us not forget the Gygaxian Fantasy Worlds stuff, either. Living Fantasy, World Builder, and EoBN, are awesome, but all of them are great.
