Got to see Larry Elmore again this weekend

Mr. Elmore was at MegaCon in Orlando this weekend and I, without question, stopped by to check out his work. Ended up chatting with him for some time about how he's doing, but physically and financially (both aspets are good) and general small talk. The nice thing was that he remembered seeing me from DragonCon '06 (which was nice - we also talked at length there, too). I told him to make sure he was fully stocked for GenCon.

He's a really nice fellow and his work is second to none. No wonder why he's my absolute favorite artist. People were coming up him all starry-eyed, and I'm sure he appreciated that, but I like to think he appreciated someone coming up and just "shooting the breeze" for a bit, too (he seemed to, at least).

I ended up buying a fantastic print from him that was originally a private commission, No Second Thoughts.

Just wanted to share my experience!

I met Larry at last years GenCon. He was a really good dude. He and I talked a bit, mainly about old D&D stuff. I bought the Complete Snarfquest book and he signed it for me. Seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

Larry's a good guy. Loves to tease the shit out of my dad and call him an Irishman instead of the Yorkshireman he is.

Hahah! I showed Larry that photo. His comment. "Man, my allergies were kicking in big time there."

That's cool, L.D.

I admire Larry's work.

Hey LD, I was at Megacon today too and bought one of Larry's D&D Red Box prints.

Thanks guys! Yeah, that print stood out...I saw it and it almost brought a tear to my eye. Dagger, I almost bought the Red Box print (there were probably multiple, though). I actually almost bought all three (the Red, Blue, and Green box prints) and I told I'd snap them up at GenCon if he brought them.

Ya. I got the red box print at the last GenCon. One of my all time favorite pictures.

Fun guy to chat with at the cons for sure. I got a picture a bunch of years ago with him and Larry told me that I was too damn tall to be in pictures. That same con, I was briefly chatting with him about my girlfriends love of his Dragonslance works and about being newly engaged. The cool guy that he is signed one of his DL companions pictures to her that said "The Adventure Begins ~ all the best."

That was really, really cool.
