It stinks losing a beloved pet. Sorry for your loss.

His suffering is over. He would have died long ago without your help and dedication. You did this for him. Take comfort in the fact that your friend no longer hurts.

Losing a family member is hard, for certain. Try to take comfort in the fact that he in a better place now, free from suffering. My thoughts will be with you today, good sir.

All I can say is remember the fun you had in the past - losing a beloved pet is always hard, but remember you made each other's life better!

Condolences

D

Slimy, I know how you feel. I lost my sweetie, Sunfall, just about this time of year three years ago. She was a stray who adopted me in November 1989, and lived to the ripe old age of 15.

It took awhile, but I eventually adopted a pair of, let us say "low albedo" kittehs from the KS Humane Society. They've helped to fill the hole in my heart.

When the pain subsides enough, kindly consider doing the same.

In the mean time...

I hope this helps.

I am sure, when your cat was in its last moments, it was thinking about you in a loving way.

Remember all of the great times you had with your cat. I am sure your feline friend will remember you fondly as well...

Sorry for your loss, Slimy! I remember when I had to take our 17 year old Springer Spaniel to the vet to be put down. It was one of the most difficult things I ever had to do! Hang in there, Bud!!

The best thing I found when this happens is get another one. I've had to do this a lot.

... just don't do exactly like I did, adopting about a half dozen or so.

Sorry to hear it, Slimy. It's a really hard thing to cope with, but like Tree said, you should celebrate the love you shared with Puss Puss. I just lost my cranky old Mooji last September after 16 late-night-hairball punctuated years. Sir Winston and I send our regards. *meow*

I think when my old Lady Dog passed on back in 2003 it about knocked me down. That was followed up by Cracker Jack about 6 weeks later. He was a little bitty dog and would constantly look for Lady, standing at the glass in the back door and what not. I think he finally just called it and threw in the towel.

I know how much pets can mean to folks. And people who don't own pets, just don't get it. So I do mean it when I say, keep the faith.

I have lost many a furry buddy, as they are just about the only living things that seem to like me back, so I can honestly say that having one not around is a terribly void. I am sorry to hear of the loss, but there are also times when staying is even harder... love can mean loss. Think of it as letting him play in the eternal sandbox, where he can always be happy.

Thanks again guys.

Being there with him when he was put down was very important to me, and perhaps the hardest thing I've ever done.

We'd spend loads of time together each day over the years, and he'd lie in my lap when I'd play C&C, etc.

Kayolan from these boards said something to me which has really helped. He remarked how putting sick pets to rest is really the act of taking the pain from them and putting it upon ourselves...

That said though, I sure do miss him dearly.
