Roils with hilarity, and sums up 4e quite skeweringly.

You guys are just haters. 5e is gonna be awesome!

Truthfully, the review was mediocre. The subject matter has all sorts of excellent things you could poke fun at and satirize but this fell flat on it's face by rehashing the same stuff in a less than creative way.

Comedy is dead.

I didn't see a whole lot in there that hasn't been said before -- maybe just coiled up into a single location, but certainly not original.

When is 4.5 going to be released?

Probably when the current 4e fans get too comfortable with the rules...

Heh...they said that ther wasn't going to be a "4.5" - I'm guessing on "4th Edition Revised."

Won't happen. With the improvements in gaming technology 4e was equipped with an auto-patcher. Through the DDI and annual PHB updates, the auto-patcher gives us the far more seamless ability to gradually upgrade the game engine in the background without interrupting play. With 63% less bitterness too.

The auto patch system is based on the .net framework. Which means it has a higher than average chance of getting a virus. Plus it only works when service pack 2 is installed. WOTC has tried to gloss these issues over with their 'I'm 4e' and 'Sahara' ad campaigns but the have finally broke and decided to push the release of wind...err...d20 7 up.

Ah, but WotC in a rare moment of foresight is integrating Mordenkainen's Faithful Virus Suite 2009 as a bonus for all DDI subscribers. Drawmij's Intarwebz Toolbox is also planned for release sometime in the next 3 month to 5 years with a promise to not charge subscribers for it until they actually maybe get it to go live without crashing their system.

Pssshhh. Naysayer.

I don't get it.

DD, I hope you don't mean you think there won't be additional editions of D&D.

With additional PHB's come additional "stuff," and with additional "stuff" comes more power creep, more chance that something will be broken, and more things that potentially need "patched"

There will be a point in time where the opinion is rampant that the 4e rules are collapsing under their own weight and classes or powers or what-ever-the-hell 4e actually does is getting more powerful now in PHB V and it's making PHB II & III worthless, or some other power creep baloney. There will come a time, I'd imagine, when the patches need patches it'll be the end of 4e.

Not that it matters one teensy bit to me, though.

Nah dude. If I'm using terms like RPG technology and patches its a pretty safe bet I'm goofing off.
