I guess to be clear I am excited about the pocket sized character books, not the PH or M&T. Like DD I am perfectly happy with carrying those books. Took them to WW D&D Day with no problems, and their visibility got them noticed and sparked off several conversations.
You know what I would really like to see? Turn those character booklets into notebook folders similar to what they handed out at WWD&DDay. Put all the class info on the folder leafs, make a folder dedicated to one class per folder side (Knight on left pocket, Paladin on right pocket), that why you have character folders to protect your character sheets inside of, with all relevant class info on the pocket leaf you stick your Sheet inside of.
On the leafs for "simple" class write ups, such as Wizard, steal an old 2E idea and provide spell lists with check boxes so the player can use it to track spells selected and used. You may have to do extra large folder leafs on these classes to have enough room to do the full spell lists, along with a few blanks at each level to write in custom spell names.
All I know is the 4E folder was so cool looking its coolness factor had me wishing I liked 4E for a few moments.
