Interesting Article. I can't criticize 4E yet as have yet to try it out. Listened in on a couple of sessions ran over Skype last year. What I heard didn't interest me. Seems Wizards are willing to sacrifice the essence of d&d to attract kids and their video games.

If I can get all artsy for a minute...

4e gave a massive redoing of D&D, but it's spirit is more D&D than 3e ever was. 4e DM's are far more liberated in what they can do and it's more creative than number crunching.

Oh...and the GNU Gnome will be in the MM2, with the PC version being in the PHB3.

Hey man, if that's you opinion, that's fine and dandy. I don't share it. It took more things away from the game to me that it's only called D&D because Hascash owns the TM and decided to put the D&D name on their most recent rehash of Heroscape. But hey man, knock youself out!
Now if the GNU Gnome comes into the mix, who knows...I may change my tune...

Again, while I don't much care for the game, it is well worth the time to try playing. I don't know if I'd even bother picking up a PHB if you can borrow one from somebody in your group. The nice thing is that you can at least put all of the pertinent info onto the character sheet and not have to spend a whole lot of time looking up the rules like 3.x. I had a pretty good time at GenCon playing 4e in the GG tournament this past summer.

p.s. Given the choice, I'd still play C&C any day of the week, though.
