BIG IRON VAULT #1 for sale!

Post by angelius »

Yup it's finally here guys, I have released my first RPG product. I hope you all like it. You may order the PDF at

PDF: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php? ... te_id=5405&

Pre-order print: www.bigironvault.com

Please buy a copy today to help support the magazine. If you have any problems or questions please do not hesitate to PM me or email me.
Big Iron Vault #1

Our first issue's cover is a wonderful watercolour painting by Rising Stars of Manga award winning artist Lanny Liu. It is called the Dragon and the Knight, both are taking a break from fighting to read BIV #1. Please take a moment to check out Lanny's work at www.lannyworld.com.
In this issue ...

A complete new game by Keith Foo entitled Mysterious Circumstances. It is a new style of "Beer and Pretzels" RPG that is meant to take only three hours to complete. Simple, yet entertaining it will no doubt provide hours of "down time" fun. while taking a break from your usual campaign.

We were blessed to have Shelly Mazzanoble be part of our first issue. Renowned as the author of Confessions of a Part-time Sorceress she has been instrumental in encouraging the explosion of women gamers we see today.

In addition, we have ongoing columnists working on such topics as Living with a Gamer, Coming out of the gaming closet, The best store in the GTA and Keith Hackwood's deep dive into the gamer's psyche with Through the Mountains of Qaf and plenty more campaign material that can help you flush out your world.

Our tough but fair reviewer of old school games checks out Castles & Crusades in the column Kickin' It Old School.

To add even more value, www.thehobbykingdom.com has generously provided a $10 CDN gift card in the magazine as part of their ad. Bring a copy of Big Iron Vault #1 to their retail store, show them that you support independent publishers to receive your bonus. (Due to logistics you need to be there in person, printing of the advertisement is allowed if you have the PDF version and one card per family while the offer lasts.)

What you get:
PDF version ($3.99 USD):

- A high resolution PDF of the magazine

- PDF from the actual files

- $10 CDN Gift Card for the very cool and awesome www.thehobbykingdom.com (redeemable in person only)
Print version ($5.99 USD):

This is a pre-order for the print version that is estimated to be in stock in approximately 4 weeks. (S/H is $2 USD anywhere in the world)

- A code for the PDF version of the magazine (as above) in your email while we print a copy just for you

- High quality print, cardboard cover and full colour magazine in the mail when it is in-stock

- FREE bonus "Monster Die" for our breakthrough game Mysterious Circumstances

I'll bite!

Seeing a new Beer and Pretzels game (All hail king Torg!) and an article by Keith Hackwood (who has been instrumental with feedback for my module for Brave Halfling) is enough to get me to buy!

Now I have some smart reading for the week!

Ok, read it a bit and I see Mysterious Circumstances is not a BEER engine game, so I feel silly.

Still looks good, though!

LOL yeah I use that term meaning that it's a shortish game meant to finish in a few hours. Although you can string them together for a campaign.

I'd like to focus on your comment about "smart reading" that's kinda what we're after in BIV. So thanks for noticing that!

Thanks I love supporting indie artists and writers too!

I always stop by writers that are sitting outside a big box book store to chat and then buy their wares. Or artists that need a hand getting a few publications under their belt. There's just nothing like seeing someone's eyes light up because you believe in them even if it is just for an instance.

In fact this is the reason why I started BIV. To give these writers and artists a chance to show off what they can do.

Although the process was pretty stressful, it was really satisfying.

We're already planning issue #2. And I think that my dream of publishing my own game system is going to come true via a RPG product line that starts ... today.

So stay tuned Relaxo! There's just might be a ton of stuff coming from us soon.

And yeah Keith Hackwood is just such a great writer. His prose is quite impressive. Must be an English thing :p

I had meant to post about this earlier.

If anyone is on the fence about buying BIV, I'd say go for it. It's really good.

I like the Mysterious Circumstances game. It looks like a perfect way to relive/reimagine ET or Goonies, or even Stand by Me or anything like that set in the real world where weird (dare I say mysterious?) things occur.

With some tweaks, it should work for an Xfiles type game, i dare say.

I was just informed late last nite that the magazines are on their way to me, once they get here I'll be sending them out.

I chalk it up to rookie mistakes. I know now the timelines a little better now and will be able to plan for it better in the future. Thanks for your patience.
