My New Favorite Word

I have a new favorite word, and it seems, it also happens to be the longest English word (that I know of, anyway):

lopadotemachoselachogaleokranioleipsanodrimhypotrimmatosilphioparaomelitokatakechymenokich

lepikossyphophattoperisteralektryonoptekephalliokigklopeleiolagoiosiraiobaphetraganopterygon

And, in case you want to know what it means:

a goulash composed of all the leftovers from the meals of the last two weeks.

I'll be having some this stuff served up by halfling gypsy wenches in all my C&C games!

Yep. I don't mince on my favorites. Always been a fan of the truly obscure, and this is one of those.

That's not english. At least, not the longest real word in the english dictionary. Also, that jumble of letters might not meet the criteria (definition) of a word.

There's some rule in the english language that scientific or technical words don't fit the traditional definition for word. Something about how such words tack on other words to form new ones I wish I can remember where or what that rule is.

Just because it doesn't show up on Wikipedia, it does not mean it is not a real word: Link

Besides, it is a real word, even if it is a compound word. And, considering it was invented by Aristophanes, it is safe to assume it existed well before English...

Although, I am curious if the word exists within any of the OED texts. If not, then I will concede it is not an English word. Though, it would still be a Greek (or perhaps Latin) compound word. And, then, it could be "loaned" or "borrowed" into English, and we come full circle.

Heh.

But, OK, fine, if a smaller word would be more interesting: aposiopesis. That should suffice. I mean, it is on Wikipedia, so it has to be true.

This is correct. Some of my students have been learning to say it as fast as they can. When asked why, they say, "its a cool a s s word." lol

Stew with two week old leftovers? Augh, maybe if the ingredients had been frozen... Otherwise, it sounds like a recipe for food poisoning.

Truthfully my favorites are Phantasmagoria, Requiem and Eldritch. They are just so fun to say and sneak into normal conversation.

AS far as words go, I'm rather fond of skullduggery.
