I did always want to know what Gollum was up to after the mountain and before he sows back up... good to see someone is considering filling in those "gaps."

Check the trailer out at: http://www.thehuntforgollum.com/

Looks pretty decent for a fan based endeavor, which will be free for us to download and watch on Sunday.

Sweet. I had heard about this a while back - glad to see the time is finally at hand. The trailer looks awesome - and yeah, I hope the movie is as good!

Wow, really good independent filmmaking. It certainly felt like the LOTR movies. The locations were wonderful.

Gotta see this. It's movie night with my wife, and since it's doubtful I can get her to watch this, I'll have to set aside some time to watch it.

It looks good indeed. However, I found the story to be boring. Considering a scenario should take little budget, I found it disappointing no effort was made on this.

For an independent group, I thought they did a good job - some narrative would have helped fill in the slower spots a bit. But, overall, I thought it was good.

I'll watch it later today. A few quibbles based on the trailer.

1.) Middle-Earth has NOT been at peace for hundreds of years. Not only was The Battle of Five Armies only a few decades ago, Aragon himself lead an action against the Corsairs of Umbar that put their fleet at the bottom of the sea only a short while before. Then there was the War of the Dwarves & Orcs that made Thorin Oakenshield and Dain Ironfoot famous.

2.) The White Council has known for a long time about the Orcs living in Moria. This was where the Battle of Azanulbizar (Nanduhirion) took place, after all.

Picky? Maybe, but its sloppy continuity in my opinion.

And just from an aesthetic standpoint, I would have preferred (based on what I saw) that the people involved had actually TRIED to make the accoutrements fit the storyline instead of using the ridiculous High Medieval/Early Rennaissance.

This fan-made movie is clearly based off of the LOTR movies, not the books. That will explain some of the continuity problems you mention.
