Terminator Salvation

Midnight screenings of this flick begin on Wednesday, 20 May (at least in the USA). Is anybody else as jazzed about this flick as much as I am? The previews look totally badass. Giant robots, termintor motorcycles, T-600s and T800s all over the place... gahds, this movie looks like it's going to rock something fierce.

Yeah, the story might not be that great, or the acting might just be OK, but the amount of eye candy that seems to be going into this movie is outstanding.

I'm really looking forward to it, though I'm not going to get to see it until 21 May late at night.

Interesting enough, Omote, I'm not. I mean, I want to see it, but not as bad as the last two movies I saw (Star Trek and Wolverine). I dunno, maybe I'm not as big a Terminator fan as I once was - I kinda lost interest after the 2nd movie and the series did nothing for me. I will go see it, but as of right now it falls into that, "if I miss it and catch it on DVD, that's fine" category.

It does look sweet, visually, though!

I'll catch it on DVD in 6 months. I'm not interested enough to plunk down $9 or $10 to see it in the theater. Plus, I'm still a little pissy that Fox cancelled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles after it ended on such a massively high note cliffhanger.

Darn, is this definte? I had hoped they'd keep the series going. Drat. Not sure about the movie either, especially since the wife isn't interested. I've only just convinced her to go see Star Trek, and that mostly because we have a little family run theater a block from our house which is showing it. So I only have to pay $6.50 for first run movies.

I'm up for the movie even after I had started losing interest in the whole Terminator thing. The fact that Christian Bale is in it is a big hook for me. I've been a fan of his since American Psycho and was a huge fan of Equilibrium.

Yup. Lots of good movies this summer. Wolverine, Terminator, Angels and Demons, a new Harry Potter flim, Transformers. Good stuff.

Unfortunately, yes. Fox announced its 2009-10 schedule on Monday and T:TSCC was not there. It's gone for good.

That show was specifcally and explicitly a prequel/prologue/hype generator for the new movie, wasn't it? Why wouldn't it go away when the movie gets released?

Hype might work both ways?

Cool show that was getting better?

Although yeah, ratings not good. I was hopeing we'd see a Terminator: John Connors Chronicles on the schedule....

I don't think the show was originally envisioned as a tie to Terminator Salvation. Late in the 2nd season of Sarah Connor, I think they started writing in some concepts that would fit with the new movie. IMO, the only reason Sarah Connor wasn't canceled after the first season, was because it could be used as advertisement for the new flick.

Regardless, Sarah Connor Chronicles is done and over. Too bad, because there was some legs left in that show.

I got that from the marketing blurb on the back of the pirated copies of season 1 available at the suk in Iraq. It didn't sound all that suspect to me at the time given that we also knew T:S was in production with Christian Bale as John Connor.

Of course, T:TSCC negates T3, but who cares? Edward Furlong was a rebel too strung out to play a strung out rebel.

But Edward Furlong wasn't even in T3.

I have not been inspired to go watch it. I am not that attracted to movies that solely rely on special effects, and then, they're CG, for its effect. But, I also do not like boring movies (like Crash) which are all "plot" and nothing exciting.... I dunno. I just don't really care for the Terminator line after T2 disappointed me.

Swings and roundabouts! T2 rocked! American Psycho sucked,

in my opinion.(needless bloody violence, and trying too hard to shock the viewer) Hope to see this movie on June 2 when it opens in the U.K

But I'm not really a fan of excessive digital effects, I like a good storyline &

a reasonable level of digital tomfoolery. Terminator 3 sucked for me because

there was far too much needless digital character action. They probably did not even need one stunt man for that entire movie.

And don't get me stared on the plot. I'm hopeful for this installment,

at least Bayle is a gritty believable actor, I liked him in Reign of Fire.

Disappointed isn't the word I would have used. There are so many better ones for my feelings on T2: Loathed, Hated, Disneyfied, Boring, Sucktastic and Abomination are just a few. Then there is T3 which was better than T2 in the sense Herpes is better than a skin eating disease.

The series rocked but fell to the Fox schedule changes that made me wonder when the show was on. So all that is left is the new movie which, looks cool and maybe, just maybe will actually be a worthy sequel to the first movie.
