Bill Coffin's Septimus finally to be published by August

Post by Keolander »

Ok,

on the off-chance there is anyone who cares, Bill Coffin's Septimus D6 RPG is going to be published in August and should be available at GenConIndy where Bill will be autographing copies at West End Games' booth. This is great news as it will possibly be the catalyst to finally get West End Games back on the map after they dropped the ball back before The Phantom Menace came out and lost the Star Wars RPG license to Wizards of the Coast. One could think of this as a sort of updated version of the old Star Wars D6 as Bill said flat out that he was heavily influenced by the old RPG for the system choice.

For those that want to check out a little preview of Septimus, here is the .pdf of the old Quick-Start Rules that were released 2 years ago for Free Game Day.

Personally, I've been awaiting these rules with great anticipation because I want something more concrete to convert the Robotech rules to. I had considered CthulhuTech, but thats a bit of a nutcracker. I own most of the old Star Wars D6 rulebooks so the updated game info in Septimus will help flesh it out.

Also, in case anyone wants to hear about this from Bill Coffin, D6 Radio did a TalkShoe Podcast talking with him about it.

That looks interesting. Have fond memories of playing WEG:SW back when...even shot down a tie fighter with a heavy blaster. (7 sixes in a row on the wild die WOOT!)

Sounds cool. I enjoyed the old WEG Star Wars system and still think it's the best implementation of a Star Wars RPG to date. I wish Bill and WEG good luck

I'm interested in this. We used to play plenty of WEG's Star Wars as one of my gaming friends had a mother who wouldn't let him play D&D; Star Wars was okay though (you know, 'cause Jedi aren't wizards ). I always have a special place for that game. I thought about getting into the d20 version years ago, and the Saga Edition version recently and I just can't do it.

The Froce system seems a bit clunky nowadays, but a few house rules can fix it better than moving wholesale to Saga. The new mini's are pretty cool though.
I'll be interested to see what Septimus looks like once it's been release. I might pick this one up.
Of course then there's Space 1889: Red Sands and Realms of Cthulhu. There's too much cool stuff in the pipe.

I had almost forgot about Septimus. Definitely want to take a look at this one as Bill Coffin is a damn good RPG writer.
