Interesting facts in Tower of A

Post by nwelte1 »

A generous Paladin treasure includes a holy avenger while a huge treasure gives you several weapons none with a plus to hit higher than 2 unless versus specific creature types.....

Hmm I want to play in a tower with only generous treasure.

See Treebore, you should be handing out HAs like candy. Its not like you are handing me a huge treasure... just generous.

Add if you found other interesting facts.

Hhhhhhmmmm,

I think you might be minimizing a bit to make some sort of point. I don't believe a paladin's treasure being a weapon is out of line. Although it is true that the four "Huge Paladin Treasures" begin at +2 they are all wonderful specialty weapons that any paladin would be proud to have.

Please also consider that there are four different treasures of various types in a graduated matter for that character class.

Feel free to show the world how well you would put together a similar box set in three weeks.

Just a thought,

I think it's a great box set, Mr. Jim.

Does doing Engineering Dungeons in 3 days count? Of course, waiting on the playtest reports took longer, but the actual writing time was minimal.

Was actually poking at Treebore. I play a paladin in his tuesday night game and am always begging for a holy avenger. Even contemplated burning a wish to get a hold of one, but fear that nasty critter that might come with it. So any minimizing I was doing was a tease toward Treebore.

Truth be told I really like your box set. My favorite part of your set is the treasure and traps sections. No offense was meant.

So, here is the deal. I've been writing games for lots of years and have taken quite a bit of criticism that wasn't of the constructive type. This Towers product is unusual and isn't meant to follow the normal rules of treasure giving by the castle keeper. So when I saw your vorpal comment it got my hackles up. It's been a grouchy year any way.

I'll try to hide my irritation better in the future.

If it makes Jim feel any better, I could write something in three weeks. It would suck, but I could write it. ToA is a product that has been used in three different RPGs by yours truly to one extent or another, a really solid boxed set, very useful.

I agree with BD. I've made use of ToA several times already. One handy throwdown product when I'm strapped for ideas.

I've taken the time to review the product for an issue of the Domesday the Society puts out. Unfortunately, that issue of the Domesday has been on 'hold' for some time now but I hear it should finally see the light of day (and a couple of my articles with it).

When I do a review or play test something, I know I try to be open minded as well as constructive.

In this case, I consider this product to be very solid and I do recommend it. Though I did have a couple of criticisms, these are balanced by other facts that I present. I know I mentioned the quick turn around for this product and none of my criticisms I brought up were the result of something that diminished the usefulness of the product.

I'll double check the estimated release of the Domesday and, as a worse case scenario, I'll post a link to the review I wrote up if the latest Domesday doesn't seem to be forthcoming anytime soon.

For what it's worth, I own the set, I've used the set, I enjoy the set and I really can't wait to see the upcoming projects with the name 'James Ward' attached to it.
