C&C Game Started Tonight - Finally!

Post by Egg of Coot »

Hey all,

After countless delays and other frustrations I finally got my first session of C&C running tonight. Despite numerous cancellations/no-shows a small party of characters got started through The Rising Knight. Progress thus far has been a little slow, but myself and the players had a great time running through the adventure.

I've got to say that I'm very impressed with the simplicity of the ruleset, especially now that I've seen it in action. There were a few areas where I was a bit unfamiliar with rulings, but I think I was able to fudge them quite well based on my understanding of the system. Very user friendly stuff.

Everyone is eager to get on to our next session . . .

Always good to hear positive experiences from experienced gamers running a new C&C game.

Thanks guys. The biggest obstacle thus far has been a lack of committed players, but I'm hoping this problem is on its way to being rectified.

I must say I didn't fully appreciate the simple elegance of the rules until I was actually running a session. My old AD&D books are one step closer to permanent retirement.

An update:

Just finished session #2 a few minutes ago. We're up to FOUR players now! I consider that to be a major coup considering that I'm currently marooned here in the desolate northern tundra.

The game tonight was great despite the fact that I had next to no prep time. One again, the simple elegance of the C&C rules were a real help in keeping things running smoothly and consistently. I was able to concentrate almost exclusively on the story line while the mechanics took care of themselves. As of tonight, the players have located the temple complex they've been seeking and are now preparing to reconnoiter it a bit before entering.

Once again, if there are any fence sitters out there - you really ought to give the C&C rules a shot.
