I didn't mean to imply anything -- it was just a question. I haven't navigated the new site (I look basically when something is announced) so was honestly curious if it had been put online.

jman - I'm not trying to be obtuse, unsympathetic, or otherwise an ass, but I ask this: if the errata, or update, is going to be released for free, is it that big of a deal that it will be a little late? If you have the 3rd print now and you are running everything fine, then why would waiting a month or so for any updates (that may or may not benefit you at the time the 4th printing is released) be harmful? Other than on principle, becuase I do agree that you should have them the same time that everyone else is cracking they new PHB.

but I don't have the 3rd print. only 1st and 2nd, I felt the 3rd did not warrant a purchase because the only significant change was the addition of the poison chart which I already had in the M&T. I for one, do not feel I should have to buy a brand new printing each time a new printing is released, I'm not that kind of TLG fan-boy, and I shouldn't be expected to be either. I *should* be able to play the game with the 1st printing and *an* errata *with the exact same content* as someone brand spanking new to the game and just purchased fresh-off-the-press 4th printings.
if it's a little late, that's OK. if it's 3 months, 6 months, "oh when I can get to it" late, then yes, that IS a big deal to me, because that tells me that only those customers who purchase the newest materials really matter - those of us who invested in earlier printings had assumed that other than minor typographical corrections, the rules as presented were feature complete when now my previous printings clearly are not "feature complete".
the bottom line, between the 1st printing and the 4th printing, there has been changes introduced into this *edition* of the game, which makes it increasingly difficult to reconcile these printings. by not having an official errata, and by not offering these changes at the same time as the 4th print of *this edition* is released, I'm now a second class citizen. wrongly conceived or not, but that is not something I want to support.
Cheers,
J.
note: I have NO problem forking over bucks for a new "edition", that has always and ever will be the case, call this print a new edition - and market it thusly, and I'd be fine - new edition = new game = pay $ for these new rules. I'd drive down and punch steve in the Ovaries for breaking the promise of never having new editions but I'd be fine with having to fork over another 20 bucks were it a new edition and changed to the system that I'd be interested in. (damned if you do, damned i f you don't... and all that)

Thanks for your post, jman. I appreciate you explaining your position as I understand things a little better now. Hopefully TLG will do all they need to do to assure the happiness of fans such as yourself.

I don't think anyone's bitching so much as carrying on a conversation that really only I can answer without me in it. I'm used to that though, I have kids and I'm married. haha
I know folks are concerned about this and its a no brainer for me. Its just when and how...and it won't be direct pages from the book as Treebore mentions. It will have to be a separate doc as the new spells are bled into the text alphabetically.
But we'll come up with something nice.
Maybe put it on a tshirt!!!! LOL
Steve
A t-shirt of illusionist spells would rock. To tide us over, could you put the pages describing the new barbarian and monk up as the preview download for the PDF (once the new PDF is released)?
Just to comment as the errata monkey...
The errata I put out falls into one of four categories:
1. Missing rules.
2. Hard to read rules (that might need a clarification).
3. Rules that are just plain f***ed up for whatever reason.
4. Typographical or layout errors that may cause categories 1-3.
Changes to character classes or new spells will NOT appear in my errata docs for the PHB. By the same token, the new monsters that are in M&T will also NOT appear in my errata. If there is something within a new rule section or spell that falls within one of the four categories above, then that errata will be noted but I'll not be broadcasting the rule verbatim.
