So things have been pretty boring at home and all of my gaming friends have moved away.

Fred the computer junkie found DDO - Dungeons and Dragons Online -. Our old gaming crew have moved to the four ends of the earthhad also.

Not the same, but we now can get together and game with each other. Don't have to have a clean house to do it.

Yes it would be 3.5ed. Yes I realize I as a partial troll should only play C&C. Yes I should be hung. Yes I have occassionally wondered what Gary G must think of this game. It has some, to me, minor hiccups but good all the same

So you will imagine my surprise when entering a dungeon last night it mentions "The Delara's dungeon narrated by Gary Gygax."

Needless to say I have probably been the only attendee at LGGC for 2 years to have not gamed with Gary.

But I did last night. And he preformed a TPK also.
So if you game DDO, you will find my gaming group under the guild name of Troll Lords.

I tried DDO for a short while and didn't like it at all, but more power to you.

My friends (and relatives) have also moved away but we still game. We use Skype conference calls and kLoOge for the gaming table. The rest is pure PNP. It's not perfect, but those of us who have no choice need our fix!

I had tried DDO for a short bit. I actually like the game play and everything, I disliked the setting however and it eventually grated on me enough that I quit playing.

It was funnny hearing my son though:

Daddy! Make one of those robots and play!

Son, it's a warforged.

Looks like a robot to me.

Point taken....

That is cool that Gygax narrated one of the dungeons though.

One does not need to know anything about the game to narrate an adventure for the game. Its a matter of reading a script, with all the "details" added in beind the scenes. Sort of like having a co-DM, really. where one is saying what happens, but the other is doing all the die rolling and number crunching. Works great if you've got a DM that's really into story play and another that likes the rules.

As for DDO... its not even real 3.5 D&D because they've changed much of how it works, and the rules are only superficially related.

For my video-gaming buck, multiplayer Neverwinter Nights 2 (due out next month) is the hands-down winner. If it's half as fun as the original Neverwinter Nights, I'll be happy.

That's my plan. So far, my girlfriend and I only have a very basic idea of what we want (and what we don't want) in a gameworld. The thing is, we both have ALOT of learning to do - particularly when it comes to scripting. Creating and hosting a PW is a huge amount of work, but we're hoping once we're able to get our ideas in a tangible form, people will come on board and make the burden a little lighter.

I believe I heard that Dave Arneson narrates a dungeon in DDO as well.

Next Month! 8)

A PW Server does sound like alot of work, but could be worth it... even if you just made it for your own online group.
