Fantasy Flight Games made a movie of Midnight

Post by dachda »

Hey just noticed at RPGNow, that Fantasy Flight Games has made a movie out of its Midnight RPG. Check its website at: http://www.midnight-chronicles.com/

Looks like it might be pretty good for a low budget production. Here's hoping.

Ya, someone posted this same thing earlier last week.

The film seemed a labor of love from the director (Christian Petersen), and the main actors. Though, compared to other features it's terribly low budget and company of local actors (Twin Cities area), may have kept this film from being a series.

If its the one I saw previewed at Gen Con 2006 then its better than what the SYFY channel does.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I don't know if it should be taken as that much of a compliment though.

No offense to Syfy...

I picked this up at my local Morrissons (one of the bigger supermarket chains, to non-Brits) a month or two ago. It had some moments, but all in all it was hard going. The movie felt a lot longer than its barely hour and a half, and not in a good way. Not cringingly awful, by any means, but it never really gripped.

Not long before I'd bought a similar-looking movie (from the same supermarket) called Dragon Hunter, and again it was a mite disappointing. It felt like a prentice-piece, the actors seemed rather inexperienced, and overall, again, just didn't get there.

In both of these offerings, it felt as though the actors weren't really inhabiting, or even really buying into, their roles. A bit of hamming it up would've at least made the proceedings a bit more fun, but the overall experience of both of these movies was a bit flat. I've only watched either of them once, so I'll probably take another look, but those were my initial impressions.

Of course, I thought Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire was hilarious, so you have to take the above in that light.
