who can bring two dogs, 6 months old, medium sized, house trained, from Des Moines, Iowa to Tucson, AZ? Truck driver? Someone who drives all over?

We have another two we need to get from St. Paul, on the Wisconsin side? Large sized 2 year old trained Borzoi?

We need them in order to give them to PTSD soldiers at the Tucson VA, and all of these dogs are being donated for free. We have tried to get airlines and other organizations to help, but no success.

So if you can check around and find people who may be able to help, it would be appreciated.

I have a few kin that drive for a living, but they normaly stay in the SE-SW and around Oklahoma. I'll ask and see if they have a friend of a friend that can do it. It'll be a few days before I hear anything though.

Good luck on this!

We appreciate it, we have spent weeks contacting airlines, the military, and other organizations we have heard about to see if we could get free help transporting these dogs, since we are all doing this free of charge to the veterans in need of them. Unfortunately no one has been able, or willing, to help so far.

If I could, I would, but probably end up wanting to keep the puppies myself.

We found an organization that can help! So four PTSD Veterans will be getting free therapy dogs in the near future! Plus it will only cost us $25/dog to get them to Tucson!

Pilots and Paws and one other organization are teaming up to help. When I remember their name I'll post it.

Good to hear, it was a dry hole with my kin. One works for Wal-Mart so only does the region around Ok and the other is "semi-retired" so doesn't drive much any more.

By the way, thanks for working something like this. It's kind of close to my heart. My unit has been hit hard lately & we've got 2 guys that are working through some severe PTSD (along with other personal issues).

Well my wife and I are both personally motivated, we are both 100% Disabled Vets, so we have pretty direct understanding of what all these people go through.

We haven't done this for just soldiers, we did find a seriously traumatized female crime victim that we have also given a dog to, and we have seen how HUGE a difference it has made in these people's live's, so its hard to not want to make this into a full fledged, VA supported program. Which at this time it isn't funded at all, not even for seeing eye dogs.

I haven't posted here in an overly-long while, but reading this thread gives more than adequate cause to break the silence: Treebore, you and your wife have once again shown yourselves to be model gentlepersons and scholars. This kind of pay-it-forward view gives a sense of real hope and the feeling that maybe we actually are, as a species, worth giving another chance to.

My deepest admiration and hopes.

Wow.

Thanks.

We do our best.
