serleran celebrates HP Lovecraft

Taking a cue from Frank Mentzer, the wife and I decided we should celebrate the birth of HP Lovecraft, in the form of edible cakey Cthulhu... and so, we made this little guy. He was chocolate pound cake with a Bailey's mint chocolate icing.... we are not professionals, so consider that in judgment.

We took Cakethulhu to a C&C game and the players there ate parts of him, starting with the tentacles until it got to my turn to have a piece, and I cut his head in half. We had some left-over, so the wife and I finished him off the next day.

Because we cheated in making him, it did not take long. As it baked, we made the icing and then once it had cooled down, we piped his skin. I'd say it took maybe an hour to finish. If we had sculpted him from scratch, as we wanted to originally, it would have taken a lot longer and been harder... but we'd already been awake for 36+ hours, and only had a few left to get him made, so we did what we could to get it over with and done. It took longer to make the homemade marshmallow because the recipe demands a precise internal temperature which takes like almost 2 hours to reach at the heat they want you to stove cook it.
