Value? Dieties & Demigods- Cthulu Mythos version?

Post by BLOOD AXE »

I got a huge box of old D&D stuff & Endless Quest books at a yard sale today.

One book is the Dieties & Demigods - Cthulu Mythos version. Its cover is really beat up & it has writing in the inside cover, but the actual pages/contents are in great condition.

Any idea on value?

Im gonna pick thru the rest of the stuff & post what i dont want, for sale here.

Thanks!

They are not as rare as people want to believe they are, so these prices are pretty ridiculous, but common... so, around $35 - 60, if in very good. The more damaged, the lower the value. However, does yours have the "special thanks to Chaosium?" If not, then it is more rare, but still not rare, then the later Cthulhu printings.

I sold on for 85 bucks in '05 but was probalbly in better condition. and so was the economy. That ebay auction will give you a good idea.

Beat up as it sounds the collectors shouldn't want it, so probably won't sell for very much. I would guess $30 would be possible, depending on if anyone who wants to just complete their collection wants it bad enough. Or how bad someone getting into old school wants it.

So yeah, put it up on eBay, let the gamers decide how much it is worth to them.

Years ago I sold almost all of my AD&D books (for 1st and 2nd edition). I've spent the last 9 years and lots of $$$$ buying them back and re-stocking my shelves. My wife makes fun of those shelves... calling them "The Precious".

If you like and enjoy the book, and will use it -- the value is immeasurable. If it is just something to have, but fills some hidden void in your mind, like it does for some types of collectors, then it is also invaluable. If, otherwise, it just is a nice thing but you'd rather have something else... then sell it.

I second the idea of keeping it. It's a great book to have, and like others have said... it's not worth what was once believed, due to the fact that there are more out there than most people originally thought. You can go to:
http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/deities.html

to check out what it's currently worth. Considering the condition you list, I would say just keep it.

It's not even considered a "rare" D&D book at this point.

Here's the breakdown for you:

Deities & Demigods (Cthulhu)

Fair - $10

Good - $21

VGood - $31

Fine - $39

VFine - $47

NMint - $52

Dude, I'm in the same boat as you - sold mine 9 years ago and started buying them back about 3 years ago, or so. And yeah, my wife makes fun of me, too.

But yeah, D&DG will go for about $30-65 in that condition.

Cover condition is not good. Pages are good/complete.

I cant find mention of Chaosium anywhere, its from 1980.

I got it for $1. Not really attached to it, I just heard this Cthullu version mentioned, but never saw one myself.
