The Gamers: Dorkness Rising

I just watched this movie recently and I must say it was vastly superior to the first one (The Gamers).

It had me laughing a lot, not only at the 3e jokes but just the overall fun they seemed to have fun making it!

I thought G2 was the better film. But I still like G1 too.

I still need to buy the second one. I did see one of the early screenings(way prior to dvd release) at GenCon 05. Sure, it's more of a film, and has better production values. Plenty of laughs, including the line(paraphrasing)"Do I get experience for that peasant?" That said, I still think the first one provided more laugh out loud moments for me. Either way, I still love em' both.

"We should not draw attention to ourselves troublesome strumpet"

That line made me snort Diet Dr. Pepper out my nose

I love the original. I have the second movie, but I've only watched it once. Maybe that's why I don't think as highly of it as I do the first.

I guess I should watch it a few more times before I make a decision. I've watched the first movie at least a dozen times. The second one just didn't seem to have the fresh, amateurish feel that the first one did. But like I said... I'm sure I need to watch it a few more times.

My son loves Dorkness Rising... much more than the first film. And, he's watched it at least a dozen times.

I'll put it on my "must watch soon" list... and see if it grows on me.

For me the first one rarely made me laugh. I guess I just couldn't relate not being a college dorm guy.

But the second one4 had me in stitches, not only was the production value and acting superior, the script was tighter and going somewhere.

There are problems with it for my money. There a few subplots they dangle and then never pull the trigger on, which they could and maybe should have, but every time we see things from the character's perspective, it just had me smiling and laughing.

Of course, YMMV

I liked them both. I really can't say I liked one over the other because they seem to meld together in my mind into one long movie.

Might check out these short clips. Go to the youtube link. You'll either laugh out loud at these characters, or wince in pain (which is what I did a lot of) about how profoundly sad their lives are.

Makes me glad I really never could get into online MMORPG's.

MrsCharlie just introduced me to the Guild the other day by way of their music video "Do You Wanna Date My Avatar". It's on YouTube.

I, sadly, have not seen The Gamers. I do own it (and have for a couple of years...again, sad), but have yet to watch it. As far as The Guild goes, I love it...damn funny stuff.

Actually, I think it was GenCon 06 when the film was screened. Maybe 07. It's all a blur. Was nice of Dead Gentlemen to give a "Nod" to Aaron Williams.

I think the guys who did "the Guild" also do "The Legend of Neil". Spoof of Legend of Zelda. Great stuff. Its got some raunch so maybe not fer the kiddies but hillarious stuff.

The only THAC0 I know of that involves comedy in D&D (except for 2nd edition AD&D) is the goblin from the webcomic...

Both movies are fun, and both are funny because they're too true.
