To all those who have served and sacrificed; and to all those who continue to serve and suffer the sacrifices so we may enjoy Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Indeed. And to all those who currently serve overseas, may your time over there be short.

In honor of Veterans that have given their all this day, I've included the link to Honor the Fallen, which lists all those who have given their lives during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. It is a search by name, rank, unit, town, date, etc. If you get a chance today take a look and remember. Thank you and don't forget to thank a veteran today!

On a more personal note, in memory of an outstanding soldier:

Yeah, my wife and I, both Veterans, are going out to take advantage of the Applebees offer. Then Golden Corrals on Monday.

I'm active duty Army and I'll be spending this Veteran's Day working the overnight shift. About three weeks ago, we came back from a short tour of the pacific. Our job is to film holiday messages from service members overseas that will play on their hometown TV stations (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX wherever they have families stateside). We also had a team in Europe and a team in Southwest Asia that did the same thing. It's a program that's existed for thirty years. If you've seen service members on TV saying "Merry Christmas" over the decades, it was a hometown news team that filmed it.
After six weeks of traveling all over God's green earth, we began the editing and distribution process. We're working seven days a week, in shifts, to get the product out by Thanksgiving. It's really a lot of work.
The end result is well worth it, though. To the families that can't see their loved ones for the holidays, a "Happy Holidays" on their local network TV is a great treat. It doesn't hurt that mom and dad's friends from the community often see it was well and call to remark "I saw your Soldier/Airman/Marine/Sailor on TV!"
It isn't just those serving in harm's way in places like Iraq and Afghanistan who miss and are missed by families. Those troops stationed in South Korea, Germany, Okinawa, Turkey, Kuwait, etc. give up the ability to easily travel home to see mom and dad, aunts and uncles, friends and cousins for the holidays.
This year, I'm a lucky Soldier. I've got my wife and family right here with me in Texas, and I get to drive home right after Christmas and see my relatives up north. So, I consider my duty a real honor.
So, here's to those who serve, to my fellow Soldiers, to the Marines, the Airmen, and the Sailors. All gave some, but some gave all.

I want to add a belated thank you to my fellow vets as well.
And a big heart-felt you're welcome to those saying thanks.
During the twenty plus years I served, I rarely heard a "thank you" for serving this great country of ours. It is good to know that at least some folks out there appreciate what our service members do to protect this country.
And to Drew, a big thanks -- I got to participate in one of those filmings way back when during a Christmas away from my wife. Both she and I appreciated the holiday message home program.
