my daughter makes this CK proud ...

so I was prepping a site for last night's adventure when my 9-year old daughter asks me what I'm doing. I tell her I'm working on some details of the tomb that the party has been clearing for the last couple of sessions. And she says "Daddy, you need some more traps." Wiping away a tear, I say, "Really? any ideas?" And she says, "Yes. You should have some gas that comes out when they step on the floor." I say "What sort of gas?" She says "the kind that makes them really weak. it should be green. and it should smell putrid [her word!]. You should also have an acid trap." "Done!", say I. And so it was done, to the consternation of my players.
My daughter was even able to stay up long enough to see the effects of one of her traps in action, at which point she proudly told the group "I thought of that one!". They smiled thinly as their weakened characters fought off an enraged ghoul ....
ahh, the pride of a parent ...

yup, pretty proud. she wanted a full blow-by-blow account of the adventure at bfast today, and was a little sad that the party had missed the acid trap (due to a natural 20 on a check traps check). she's decided she will be my 'trap consultant' from now on.

this could be a frightening foreshadowing of her teenage years. Sounds like she had more fun than the players did that evening.

That is too cool Geleg. You must be a very proud father.
I run both of my sons and their friends in a C&C campaign so I don't get the benefit of their input on traps and such since they are busy contemplating how to overcome my dungeons lately. I think that I will ask for their input for my adult group though when it resumes.

That si awesome! Yeah, I had my demonic little children help me design up the "mean stuff" in my games back in the day. Now they get mad when they remember helping me come up with that idea, and I am now using it against their PC's.

Lovely.
When will she roll up a character?

oh, she's got one, Clarence! A nice Elven Rogue, named Arwen of course, of allegedly CG alignment but acting more LG. LOL! [this is completely in character with my daughter's personality - a true rules-follower. She is about the least sneaky rogue I've ever met, even though she likes the idea of being sneaky/shifty]
She has really enjoyed playing with me as DM, but has not pushed me to do more for her. I have been patient, hoping that the adult game stirs her to ask to play a bit more.
btw, her stats are incredible! I've never seen such lucky rolling in my life. if i hadn't witnessed them, I'd be certain they were faked.
