Problem with forum alerts

Post by Inkpot »

Hey folks,

I'm getting email alerts whenever a thread I've posted in has a new response, but in clicking the link, I keep getting a 404 error. Anyone know the cause and/or how to fix it? For the record, I'm using Firefox and Gmail.

A couple of thoughts. Are you checking the "log in automatically each visit" box when you initially login?

Also, does your browser clear cookies when you shut it down?

Ahh, mebbe if you change the clear cookies setting. Don't clear (keep them) and then give it a test.

Well that's the weird part....because even if I'm not signed in, I should still have access to that page. My spidey-sense is telling me that it's a problem with the forum software....

Maybe. If I recall correctly you get an e-mail with a link back here to the specific post, correct? And then you click on it and then get that message?

Interesting. So you don't get the message every time?

Edit: nevermind, you said sporadically. Hmm, maybe there is a timeout feature running?

Yeah, if it works sometimes and not others, try to see what the timing is of your attempts. I would also suggest sending Fiff a PM, as he may not see this thread. He might be able to help or confirm the timeout feature!
