I was always fond of this cover:
Dragon #110

I always wondered, "How did that guy die?" I still think about that picture and what wonders such a primeval forest might hold.

There was also a "series" of art from Elmore that involved witches...at least they look like witches. I think I remember talking to Larry about them once and they were supposed to be "seasonal," renditions, but I don't think they were an "official" series. I have the first one on my wall.
Dragon #188
Dragon #163
Dragon #150

After doing a little bit of research, I found that #188 and #163 are two parts of (a complete?) series. #150 wasn't part of it, but still one of my favorites.
Dungeon #1, of course. Parkinson at his best. And another sweet piece by Parkinson, the cover of AC9 Creature Catalogue.

The cover to Unearthed ARcana was already mentioned. Awesome stuff, that is.

Ya, those three were all rough sketches he intended to turn into paintings someday. He talks about it in his various art books.

Ah yes, another cover that I framed up to hang on the wall. Like you LD, that picutre really sparked my imagination. I used this picture no less than a half-dozen times as an encounter of the years in various games I ran. Particularly in my earlier years of this hobby, this picture really helped expand my thinking about GMing, adventure development, pacing, encounters and so much more.

It's a fav for sure.

Word indeed. Otus is my favorite old-school D&D artist.

I'm kind of partial to this one. I've always wondered what Earl Otus would have done if he'd been able to make the Companion, Masters, and Immortals set covers with the same theme.

My favorite Dragon mag covers would have to be the chessmen series. I believe these were issues 81-84 or so.

Interesting tidbit from The Acaeum about that picture from the orange-cover B3 and why it was removed:
The second piece of artwork shows what is obviously a caricature of Gary Gygax, in the upper left. Robinson further elaborates on pictures hanging on the wall behind the characters: "The center framed picture on top is 'Mali' the moose god (don't ask) with myself and Paul Reiche III (who, along with myself, had just quit TSR) flanking and below. The picture just below that is myself, Erol Otus (the artist), and Paul as we dressed to go over to the Admin building (the development staff was housed in the building above The Dungeon Hobby Shop while the rest of the company was out toward the edge of town) to finish leaving the company (Erol was just there for moral support -- we all dressed in our most formal clothing with weird headgear and/or ties and dark or mirrored sunglasses -- the administrative assistants thought we were "European buyers", which was hilarious). The oval image is 'Chaz', the alter-ego of artist Jeff Dee."
