Adventuring party names

Hello
Just wondering how many players give their party a name or title. A little while ago we started a Castle Whiterock campaign and we called ourselves The lollypop kids". My logic behind this was that no person or rival group would want to hunt us down to prove themselves if we got too tough. Who would boast about beating up the Lollypop kids! See if we went for the standard dragon slayers or trollkiller thingies" we may attract too much attention, the downside was that it was a bit tough trying to get someone to hire us for a job. Anyways tell us your adventuring groups names.

It depends on the campaign, and how the story plays out. I would say for the more heroic parties that I have run or play in, about 50% of the time a group name was given to the group. Here are the ones that I liked in our games:
The Holy Order of the FPQ
The Heroes of the West (original, yeah I know )
Vampire Kings
Monster Hunter's Guild

The group I DM never has given themselves a name. Then again, they're working their way through Rappan Athuk, so there has been high PC turnover.
In college, the group I played with dubbed ourselves "The Do-Gooders" and you had to use the "air quotes" hand gesture when saying it. Why? Because we had a bad habit of unleashing various evil creatures, realizing they were beyond our power, shrugging, and heading in the other way while the evil creature enjoyed itself.
I still remember encountering the burnt ruins of a village that had been ransacked by the frost giants we released from the Temple of Elemental Evil. But, hey, they did help us get out of that place.

Our first Deadlands campaign. One character was an obese guy named "Slim" Chance.
He wasn't the party leader, but was the most recognizable member, so the group somehow ended up being the Fat Chance Gang.

No self-titled group name. We see no point in it, seeing as most of the party would rather not be adventuring with others in the party anyway. Maybe if they were part of some military unit, or did something worthwhile to get recognition... but, then, they also don't tend to stay in the same geographic regions, so when they travel somewhere else, any name they may have had elsewhere will result in "who?", so yeah... I'm not thinking they'll do it any time soon.

I often think that the best way to name a group is based on what their most significant adventure accomplishment was.
If they found a given item, then it could be the Company of the Azure Lance, perhaps. Say this spear like item is a variation of a flame tongue blade that glows with blue fire. With that item, this band of adventurers has a clearly recognisable trademark of sorts. It could even affect reputation, and modifications to encounter checks when this party is encountered.
Course, names like the Order of Dragonslayers could present its own problems.
But of such problems are even more grand adventures made. Never let the consequences of a name stop you from standing tall defending it.

My groups have never given themselves a name either. However, in one very long campaign (lasted about 2 years real time), the group was given the name "the clueless" by the forces of evil that were against them. They were called this because they spent almost the entire campaign not realizing that they were being subtly manipulated by the lich who was the main "bad guy" of the campaign.

I think there were times when we could have called ourselves "The Body Bags" for all the stupid things we did and that's where we would end up.
I do believe the only name we had was when we were going through some of Gary's LA stuff. They called us the "Russet Rangers" for the russet colored tabards we wore in service of one of the local regents, if my memory serves me right.

Company of the Winter Wolf (this was from killing a winter wolf when they were just 1st level.)
Legion of the Flaming Horse (this was from casting Walls fo Frie, while mounted, and just riding down the army of goblinoids, orcs, and giants)
Defenders of the Realm (was a title actually bestowed upon them by the Empress)
The Unseen Hand (they all wore a Ring of Invisibility)
The Ruby Lords (they all wore magical ruby rings)
The Green Men (they were all Druids or Rangers)
Company of the Burning Horse (this was after the Paladins Holy War horse caught fire and the Paladin went freaky to put out the fire before his horse died)
The Frostmen (they all had a weapon, armor, or item that caused or protected from frost damage)
The Holy Crusaders (All priest types and a Paladin)
The Sea Sliders (they had a magical teleporting ship, that could teleport on the full and new moons)
More as I recall them.

Only one group I've been part of has had a name - "Company of Delvers" - with the exception of a Traveller campaign in which all the PCs formed the command team of a mercenary unit, "Tran's Commandos".

When playing with my old group in north Washington, our party discovered a fist-sized star sapphire in a treasure horde. Rather than sell it, we spent some cash and had it mounted on the tip of a guidon, made a pennant, and dubbed ourselves the Gaurdians of the Sapphire. From there we went on to doing the usual...slaying dragons, rescuing damsels, defeating evil wizards, and dodging political skullduggery. It was a kick, especially when we started opening "branch houses" in three other major cities and recruiting...then founded a frontier town/keep...
I think we had nearly 30-40 other NPC adventurers and a couple hundred troops under arms when we finally laid that campaign to rest.

See. This is just what I was talking about in my post above. Just the kind of thing that adds just that much more rich detail to a campaign world.

Finarvyn's Fellowship of Foragers. Someday we hope to buy t-shirts so we can wear 'em to game conventions.
Sometimes the group gives a particular name to a game group in play -- once we were playing Paranoia and it was decided that everyone had to name their characters such that they spelled out D-E-A-T-H (my character was the H-one, but I forget his name offhand.)

My players have never named their groups. Although, NPC's and opposition groups have come up with names for them....

i think the closest a group of mine got was when the addressed themselves once as, "We're the guys who are going to kill Lolth."

my players named their group "Burdock's Rangers" as an effort to ingratiate themself with the local lord's steward (the local lord is Burdock). This will have to change as some of the larger political plots come into play.
I enjoy naming npc groups as well. Some of the more recent ones are:
Dalton's Devils, led by a venal and completely chaotic Bard named Dalton. Dalton and Co. are major rivals/villains.
I stole Michael Curtis' blog nickname for another: the Society of Torch, Rope and Pole. aka STRAP. These are all grim Skandiks who have already left for the local megadungeon. I plan to use them as character inside the dungeon whenever the players get there.
a third is called Discipline and Punish. [named after Foucault's brilliant book, which I was teaching that week .... but it struck me as a good name for an adventuring group]. This group doesn't yet have a campaign identity.
