Now this looks most promising.

Oh, the movie based on the heated debate on the discovery and settlement of America by Vikings. Yeah, should be neat. That kid is certainly in the aett of Rambo...

This is a must see for me. I don't expect a historical representation, just a cool action flick and that's cool by me. Vikings vs. Indians! Rar! Total sensless fun I admit, but it should still be fun!

I don't think the discovery is debated at all. The dig in Newfoundland during the 60's confirmed nordic presence in the americas prior to Columbus' discovery. The debate just pretty much revolves around WHERE Vinland was. If the dig-site in Newfoundland was indeed the site described in the Saga of Erik the Red and the Saga of the Greenlanders. Also sometime debated is the extent of their presence.

Looks like bloody fun (despite the probable historical inaccuracies)!

Exactly. Dudes with swords beating the crap out of each other, and a hot indian chick. A mixture guranteed to generate worthy viewing faire.

Peter,
You stay in Oklahoma, and if if you're near Muskogee then its probably not too far of a trip south for you. But have you ever visited the Runstone park near Heavener?
I keep saying I'm going to go up there and check it out, I just never find the time. Supposedly a stone carved with some runes. ONe theory suggests norse explorers going up the Missisippi and exploring out but *shrug* I dunno.

As a matter of fact I have been there. And it is, indeed, a viking runestone.
Im about 15 minutes from Muskogee proper actually, and spent much time travelling back and forth through Heavener to various points over the last 10 years or so.

Cool. I assume its worth the trip then?
My wife and I have discussed going up there for the past few years, we just never made the time to do so. Perhaps I'll make that extra effort in the near future. That sort of thing is interesting to us.

I suppose it depends on your interest? I was going by the area and found myself with extra time and a certain amount of convienient closeness to the place to stop in.
Certainly was worth a look in that circumstance.

I've wanted to see that guy in something ever since I saw him in LotR. Guess
now I will get to see if he is as good a actor as I thought. Plus my wife and daughter will enjoy his "eye candy" aspects.
I've been told he has been in other movies, but none I ever caught.

I just wanna know why the rampaging "barbarians" always have to be painted as the villains.
But even I have to admit, the Saxon villain Cerdic (Stellan Skarsgard) was just kick ass in the otherwise luke warm movie of King Arthur (2004 release).

That was a great trailer. I saw it before, but for some reason it just looked better this time.

Yeah he was in Bourne Supremacy and Chronicles of Riddick and did a good job as a bad guy in both.

Yes, I've been looking forward to this flick for some time as well. I'm a bit worried because the movie wrapped filming some time ago. I couldn't find info about reshoots, but this movie was originally slated to be released in July 2006, then Sept 06, then January 07.
As for the "historical accuracies" of the flick, well I can;t say for sure about that but the teaser poster for The Pathfinder had a giant on it... I don't think this film is shooting for historical accuracy.
Looks billy bad-ass though

I'd say from the armor alone it won't be exactly historically precise, but that's OK. Remember '13th Warrior'?
As for Karl Urban, here is a news alert for you guys. He was in 'Doom'. Not the greatest movie ever made, but if you like Karl Urban give it a shot. So to speak. I thought he upstaged the Rock.
I don't know why they keep postponing th release, that has me worried too.

Yeah, Karl Urban is working his way up to being a frontman for a flick, and I guess PATHFINDER was it. Lets hope he can pull it off because IMO, cinema needs more solid action stars (I'm not sure if Karl Urban is it, but this movie will definitely prove his worth to lead).

With 13th Warrior, you have to remember that it was based on a piece of fiction, that has never claimed to be historical in fact or scope. The film doesn;t address this, and clearly didn't try to be accurate. Great flick though, almost better book.

I posted with that in mind. Still, the movie was apparently not made with exact historical accuracy as a goal. That's all I meant. So, have you seen 'Doom'? I like Urban, a lot. It would be nice if he (or someone like him), not the Rock or Vin Diesal, became the next big action star. I would have preferred more Michael Biehn and Bill Paxton and less Arnold back in the late 80's and 90's, too. Somehow muscle bound doesn't equate to 'hero' for me.

I have seen Doom, and yes the movie was rather dissappointing from a fan's perspective. Karl Urban due to some internal disbute with the copmany actually received top-billing over Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson in Doom... although it's hard to tell that from the posters and whatnot which features both of them.
I agree, Karl Urban was decent as he could be in Doom.

Got to say that I'm still a fan of going to the movies. Over the past few years, two theaters have been built close to me and each one offters stadium, reclining seats that are wide with very wide aisles, Dolby THX or better surround sound systems and cheeper prices on admission then the old, dinky theaters. For this fact alone, I'm still a fan of going to the movies a few times a month.

The only theatre I like anymore is the drive-in. Fun fun.

The last drive in theater closed last year that was by me. Now, none to be found.
There is this cool theater in Columbus Ohio that serves beer and food, plus it's a awesome theater. Don;t get to go there often, but it rawks.

I just got this score in IESB.com. This is part of an interview with Tim Rothmen, head of production for FOX:
IESB: One last update, Pathfinder it got pushed back
TR: Coming out second week of January in a hard R rated version. The version originally previewed was a watered down PG-13 version and we elected instead to go with the uber hard R rated, you know, the real deal that Marcus [Nispel] made. So thats the movie that will be coming out.
Good news, very good news for PATHFINDER in my opinion.

I know the sound guy that made sure everything lines up. His mom was my English 1A professor and has helped edit some of my work.

*chuckles* I grew up in california too. Some of the folks that used to come into my parents costume place were original FX people from the first Star Wars movie.
Some nutty people.
