I talked to a couple two years ago that had VIG passes. They seemed to think the VIG passes were worth it. Not having ever attended on a VIG pass myself, I cannot comment from a firsthand perspective.

I can only comment from the other direction. Someone paying that much to meet me is completely nuts.

What does it enable you to do? Get in when the merchants are setting up? Special privileges to sit and chat with the special guests? Without knowing what it offers, I'll side on-- no, it is worthless.

You get preferential hotel arrangements, A "green room" where you can grab some refreshments and relax, get into the dealer's hall early, and do scheduled meet and greets. There might be more stuff, but I was never interested so I passed by the $500 right quickly.
