Troll Lords Favicon

Post by Stainless »

Have you guys thought of using a favorites icon (favicon) for your web site and forum?

Techy info here;

Good point, Stainless. I hate having that blank square for my TLG site. Now that Steve has moved on to web cams and push-button phones, we have a chance.

Did you just try to give techy info to TLG? Oh boy. Only if Cookie-Fu Brian takes care of it.

*chuckles* I'll pass it along to the webguy. If Steve had his druthers, his phone would still consist of two cups and a string.

The favicon will show up in the new website.
Since the new site only has 1 file for the header, it was very simple to insert it. Otherwise, I would have to modify ALL static pages on the current site..
I've also added a bunch of new search engine optimization stuff to the new layout, making it a lot easier for folks to us on the web. This weekend I am working on iPhone apps, but I'll get back to working on the site shortly...

Thanks

Brian

Ahh, interesting. I was unaware you were about to update the web site. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

One last thing, I hate forums which have the company's logo at the top and when you click on it, it simply takes you back to the forum and not to the company's web page, which is what you would logically expect it to do. Surprisingly, there are a number of forums like that. With a new web site coming along, it would be good to set this right.

Well, unfortunately, we've tried to fix that problem, but for some strange reason this forum software wont allow that to be set up.

Hmmm, OK, but it seems to be the same phpBB version as the HEX forums, and they've managed to get it to work for them;

Different set up. They're using a forum system embedded into their site. Freeyabb is hosted on another server. I figure if the geeks who moderate this site can't work it out, it can't be done on freeyabb.

No, it can be done because it was...but, it makes thing weird, like inserting code in places and showing stuff that no one needs to see. It was because of the funkiness of that it was reverted back. So, yeah... unless the forums move to a self-host or to a place like Proboards, then it will be how it is.
