2010 GenCon - CRUSADER CON!

Post by Omote »

So, event registration has aleady begun for GenCon 2010. Last year there was a nice presence for C&C at GenCon. At that time it was discuessed that there would be a more formal presence for C&C games at GenCon. Is this still the plan?

I know that GenCon 2010 is still some time away, but I was wondering if any planning needs to be done now to facilitate the Crusader presence at GenCon?

Should I start registering C&C games now, or wait?

Thanks.

I'd think that, to make it easier, registering events now would be optimal.

I am still trying to figure out exactly how many games to run, and how many games to play in. I will be running a tournament mod again, though we are going to redo the way scoring works (I would like to make it a team vs team effort instead of individual scoring) and then I am going to run some of my own stuff.

I have a module that is nearing completion....and I playtested this last weekend while visiting my brother. With all the family stuff going on, we only got a four hour block to play, and got about 25% through it. Might be too long for a Con but its got a great story if I do say so myself.

If I had a big enough inventory of my miniatures I would happily sign up, but this year it's likely to be North Texas and Troll Con for me...I hope.

One of the things discussed for GenCon was the possibility of having all of the C&C games in one area, but I'm sure that's not a possibility. It would be nice though.

Did the powers that be ever think of having a virtual game based on the Con for those of us that cannot make the event? A lot of games are done via SKYPE, why not have one based at the Con and have people connected.

Even have a video set up possibly?

Just a thought..

Oooh! Awesome idea!

The big trick will be the wireless access, but I think Gen Con has that convention wide, so may very well be doable!

I didn't try, but doesn't GenCon charge for their WiFi? I bet it's a lot.

I was going to say the same thing, O. My vision for this year is to have a Troll Lord Games area, with banners and a lot of visual presence, and somehow coordinate games with and around other CK's.

This will really make a statement for TLG, I think. Plus, if a game is always going, there are people to watch your stuff (if you have totes and whatnot there at the table) if you need to leave for a while.

How could we go about making this happen?

You'd have to make a deal with a hotel to be sure. Most of these hotels probaby have this space taken up already. However, the earlier the better when planning stuff like this.

If you were to have a room in the convention center itself, that would probably be significantly more difficult, perhaps planning a full year or two in advance. Not really sure though. Just theory.

Need to see how some other things go before I start planning for GenCon...
