You the sequel to The Sword and the Sorcerer is coming out soon? Tales of an Ancient Empire. Lee Horsley is reprising his role as Talon, too.

I've been keeping up to this from time to time. But prepare yourself for utter craptitude. The budget is tiny, and the director (the venerable Albert Pyun) is showing off snippets of this flick or 6 months now. Each one looks terrible... acting wise. Damn, can they please NOT get strippers to be actual characters in this movie?!

In case anybody didn't know, Tales of an Ancient Empire is a direct sequel to the movie The Sword and the Sorcerer. It stars a list of has-beens the likes are not often seen..

Kevin Sorbo

Lots of strippers

Lee Horsley

Val Kilmer

Christopher Lambert

Olivier Gruner

I wanted to like this movie but the clip released so far are... vomit-inducing. This movie will be no better than a SyFy fantasy movie-of-the-week, in fact there is a goo chance that this movie will debut on SyFy network.

Ugh.

Well, I love the first Conan movie, but it was about as REH inspired as The Color Purple. I love the part in the CtD where he says, "Enough Talk!" and throws a dagger into that guy.

Yeah, I have to admit, I love that part. Sort of one of the only parts that feels true to the REH Conan character.

And I will also confess that the drunken Conan scene does make me chuckle to this day.

I will forever lament that Conan the King isn't being made.

The script treatment by John Milius was amazing.

I don't have a dog in the "Howard vs. Milius" hunt. I like both versions. I have to say I prefer Milius as a steward of Conan.

After watching the alternate ending and deleted scenes of CtB on the special edition DVD, I will always be sad that Milius' original vision of 3 movies will never come to pass.

"Conan centers on the mythical hero driven to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village."

Sigh.

Abortion.

Really, all they have to do is pick up The Hour of the Dragon, turn it into a screenplay, and go. It's not rocket science.

Hell, if they turned to any of the several decades worth of Roy Thomas's excellent Savage Sword of Conan adaptations they'd have the whole movie story-boarded as well.
