AFK

Post by DangerDwarf »

Well, I'm finally getting to start moving in the morning and will be AFK for a little while starting tomorrow. Woohoo!

So starting tomorrow I'll be computerless until everything gets settled in at the new house. The EXTREMELY good news for me is that I'll actually have high speed internet when I get settled in. Huuzah! No more crappy dial up!

It amazes me that I'm moving to an even more rural area and DSL is available there wheras it is not at our current residence.
Hopefully, I'll be on-line capable at super quick speeds on wednesday. Until then guess I'll just have to stay busy unpacking.

Its because your nearby state institution had to have high speed. Don't think they did it for the general consumer, do you. The proximity of the state prison is the only reason I have DSL.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Good luck on the move....and I'm just 30 minutes from Dallas and I dont' have DSL in my area; thus I'm on cable.

Most likely correct.

Working in security I forget that other departments actually have modern computer technology. heh.

The computer in my office is connected to the state's system so I can access various inmate records and such but the technology.....way outdated.

I've still got a pea green monitor, no drives for any sort of disk and using a dot matrix printer. Can't access the internet or anything, just a constant connection to the stae's database.

To update any paperwork, I have to hijack the Major's secretary's computer.

Good luck on the move. If things go well in the next few weeks I'll be moving too. Hopefully I can look into DSL either through my phone company or somewhere else.

Yay...we got moved.

I'm tired.

The move actually went over quite well, allready have everthing unpacked and set up too.

Was pleasently suprised when the phone guy showed up today and hooked us up, wasn't supposed to happen until wedensday. Still no DSL until then though
Wife and kids love the new place, registered my son in his new school today. Man it is a small school. There is only a single kindergarten class and my son makes kid number 15 in it. I like it and it is reputed to be one of the best schools in east Texas, so that is good.

I'm going to go catch up on some much needed sleep.

Ouch! Well hopefully your insurance, or your landlords, covers most of that

Mystery leak solved. A bird built its nest under our Air Conditioner. Bird nests are waterproof, and this one was blocking the drainage hole under the unit. One homeless bird, one turned-off AC unit, no more water everywhere. Stupid birds.

Your fine. The water helps to cool your computer, thus increasing its efficiency. You won't believe how smoothly and fast your computer has become.
