Mike Grell's Warlord

I picked up the first smattering of issues of the new Mike Grell comic book, Warlord over at Castle Perilous this morning. I'm sitting here at the show eye balling them, hoping they are as good as the original...of course the original were published when I was young and filled with the mystery of life, not old an sodden with drink, wreathed in wrinkled smoke, and with the bitter taste of balancing check books ever in my mouth.

Er? There's a new Warlord comic out? Are they new stories or just re-hashing the originals? Is Shakira still rocking the fur bikini? Man, it's been a long time since I "entered the lost world of the Warlord".

Haven't read them yet, but I see the old characters in it. The green wizardress (is that his daughter) and other familiar faces. Not sure on the story, it looks new.

Man just looking at these brings back some memories of reading comic books sitting out on the sidewalk in front of the house. Loved these things when I was 10.

Yeah, I love Mike Grell too. I loved the Warlord and I was really into his later comic, Jon Sable, Freelance as well. I had no idea he was still in the comic business.

I wouldn't get too excited. This is the 2nd attempt, in the 00's to revive Warlord. I love me some Warlord, found the first attempt pretty good but it ended early because lack of sales. This one, even with Grell, is going the same route so don't surprised to see it canceled soon.

Though not selling well, there is a commitment to keep Jonah Hex going... I love Jonah Hex but these days trades are more appealing than monthlies.

The new Warlord's have been pretty good and better with Mike Grell doing the art on most of the issues now. We will see if it lasts though.
