Oh, these sound cool! That would be excellent for con support.
Kim, is there any way you can check to see if one went out for me?
Christina
Will do!

Tyler, Steve is out of pocket until next week, but if you hit him up he might deliver.
The Harbinger box delivers a staggering payload of supplies for the nomadic Castle Keeper who wishes to bolster his potential player base quickly and at no cost. You should just ask for the set with extra booklets!

I plan on running some demos soon for the FLGS and the local gaming club. I can run them as it stands, but I would like to show off the arbinger variant for the , "see this cool little box that the Trolls do just for introducing new folk?" effect.

I actually got one of the boxes from Stephen at Carbondale a couple of months ago, so I've got the softcover rules, and the adventure or two that came with it. Unfortunately, I used up the 5 or 6 player booklets that came with it. The set included Shadow of Halfling Hall. Great one, but I would switch it out in favor of Dwarven Glory. The reason...it contains three shorter adventures. I know that two of them(and probably the other one) fit into a normal con slot. Not sure if Shadows would, or not as written. I may have suggested that to Stephen. Can't seem to remember. I'll check in with him about those sheets.

Recently got it too
I got mine a few days ago- in terms of being a beginner-friendly type of PnP rpg boxset, it's very, very nice; has pretty much the entire ruleset (via the softcover PH) out of all of the introductory RPG boxsets and is relatively playable out of the box with the two adventures (one of them a straight forward adventure and the other a sandboxy element type of adventure).
The biggest surprise are the Harbinger Variants, which are DIY character creation quick-starts with enough of the rules that a person can roll up a featured character class and start play with ease for the first 6 levels of play. As an extra bonus, the Barbarian, one of the featured character classes, in transcribed in it's full class entirety (in terms of class ability, if not the actual class hd and xp base).

My only complaint is that it doesn't come with any of things described on the back of the box! No tips on running a demo, no customer contact cards and no ordering info!
Anthony,
These are the things I said were missing. I had so many folks wanting to get them their copies to start demoing that we sent out the first bundle without the necessary cards. I will make them downloads, or ship them in the next batch of quick starts when CKs need them.
Basically the set comes with
1 page instruction sheet
1 retailer card to be handed to the retailer for contact information
1 catalog (for the CK to show around)
6 cards to be filled in by gamer and mailed back to TLG
6 order forms
It is important to note that the rule books in the box set are to be given to the players to keep. When you (the CK) run out, contact Kim and he will arrange for you to receive more.

Thanks for the info Steve! I am setting up two demos now in the Chicago area. I will blog and post after action reports about both. FYI, I plan to use The Rising Knight in at least one of the demos. IMHO, it is an excellent demo adventure for both GM and Players.

Are you demoing at Games Plus? I am visiting Chicago at the moment and checked out that store. It's excellent and had a nice stock of C&C stuff.
