Looking for high-quality, poster-sized, Greyhawk map

Post by DaveyB »

The subject pretty much says it all. The ones that used to be on Canonfire are all down or deleted. I have the one that comes with the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer, but am looking for something more akin to the one Paizo put out back when they ran Dungeon. I hate to pay $19 for all of the PDF's to piece that one together, but I may have to if I can't find a good, viable alternative. Thanks in advance!

I'd just buy a Greyhawk Folio. Of course, the map would need to be included.

I just bought the Greyhawk maps from issue 118 to 121 of Dungeon about a month ago for around $25 with shipping at Paizo. They were running low on the 118 map, but you have to buy the Dungeons that have the map 119 to 121 to get the other 3. If you don't have those issues, the good news is there is a good adventure path in those issues involving Sterich.

Are you looking for a map that covers the whole Flanaess?

If you are looking for a continent map, the 4-part map in the Dungeon series is the way to go. Even for the price to buy them in print is a bargain for all the use you'll probably get out of them.

For an easier, cheaper method (but may take longer) is to find the ole World of Greyhawk box set on eBay or NKG. That one has the magnificent Darlene map that is absolutely classic.

I suggest this route. The adventure path is quite good, too. I ran it and my players loved it. And the maps are the bes in print, in my opinion, of Greyhawk.

Nah, here's the best Greyhawk maps:

Than again, those are not offical by any stretch of the imagination. Also, they are free and can be printed out poster-sized if so desired (that's what I have been using for about 4 years now).

Omote, those maps almost make me want to run a Greyhawk game or three.

Those maps are baddass, Omote. But four years and that is all that is mapped out? Am I missing some? Regardless, they are awesome...

The artist for the list I posted did all of that on her own, conducting massive amounts of research on the topics of Greyhawk and topography. However, she hasn't updated her work in 1.5 years or so. Perhaps real life got the best of her.

All of the locations on those Greyhawk maps are either in canonical sources (TSR, WoTC) or in Living Greyhawk. She used the Living Greyhawk stuff or else massive tracks of lands would be completely barren. Than she scoured the texts to get the best idea of the topography and when there wasn't a clear answer, real-world sources were used to fill in the blanks.

Of course, the Darlene map was the template.

Of course, they're awesome. But I'd rather have a professionally done, fairly accurate map than a map that's nowhere near finished, and one I'd have to do a ton of work on to get into a tangible form. But that's me. *shrug*

But yeah, they are pretty spectacular.

True enough. For my uses of these maps we play in and around the Free City pretty often Anna's current maps surround Greyhawk and whole Nyr Dyv region at this point, so this has worked good. The level of detail in these particular areas is astounding.

Sorry to keep on talkin' up these maps. It's one of the few true fan projects that I am love with in regards to RPGs.

To continue with my OCD on the subject, just wanted to post some pics of the Anna Bernemalm Greyhawk maps that's I've been blathering on about in this topic.

Sorry for the bandwidth suck-downage if you are concerned about such things.

The maps are pretty hi-res, and I had them printed out at 24" x 36". Yeah, they take up a lot of space, but the kids who are playing love 'em.

With these maps below I wanted to show the amount of detail that was included close-up. These maps have really inspired some of our Greyhawk games:
