Tolkien Trivia

Does anyone know the name of the stream that runs through Hobbiton in Middle Earth? So far, the only name I can find for it is "the water".

I do believe they just referred to it as The Water. The Brandywine was a bit further to the east.

Dang...I need to log into LotRO!
I think that's what it's called, though.

Here's your answer from the Encyclopedia of Arda:
The Water
The main river running through the Shire

A tributary of the River Brandywine that rose in the Westfarthing of the Shire, and flowed eastward to meet the Brandywine just north of the Brandywine Bridge. Hobbiton and Bywater both stood on this river.

Yeah, I just verified that with the Atlas of Middle-Earth.

That's a stupid name for a river. It's like calling your pet "Dog".

Funny story... my first cat was named Cat. That's because he didn;t respond to his given name, just Cat. So, that's what we called him.
