Anyone have any suggestions for a module/map to use for Dragotha's Lair from White Plume Mountain? I could write one up myself, but I don't have the time...

It's considered a classic, and there was a "Return" during the Silver Anniversary revival, and I think even a d20-ized Expedition as well... so, yeah.

BD! Where have you been?! Black Razor? The giant glass balls with stuff inside them? White Plume Mnt was a bit quirky, but "aces" in my book!

Wizards did one a few years back. I have the pdf somewhere. Do they still have it up on their website? Or do you need a scan of it?

There are some decent maps on WotC's site... http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20031121a

Or if you have the Draconomicon itself, there were some in there, and a full adventure if I remember correctly.

Other WotC freebie's
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20050517a
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20010608a
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20040227a
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20020125a
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article1.asp ... a20020628a

Can't vouch for any of these as I haven't played them, but maybe a source of inspiration.

This news saddens me.

WPM is my favorite all-time AD&D module. If you haven't read it, don't. It should be a surprise when you run through it... sometime in the future maybe.

Yeah, WotC still has the stuff up on the site... but you need to know where to look or get it with Google... http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/downloads

WPM is under the adventures at the top, as is Tomb of Horrors... both updated to 3.xE. Some good old school stuff under the Previous Editions at the bottom. All in all, a good place to go to get some freebie's.

Oh, and serl, all the old "Map a week" entries are there... so maybe some more places to look for maps.

I second the ones koralas linked...the first link. Those are pretty good, serl.

Thanks, all. I think the best one of the maps from Draconomicon would be the copper, as it fits the terrain best. Just need to deepen it... want it to be 3-5 levels.

Serl, there's actually a whole adventure based around this, written by Bruce Cordell. It was a freebie on the web, but I don't know if it's still out there. I do, however, have it on my PC. In case you or anyone else is interested, I can upload it for you.

Thanks for the offer, SirC. I found it on the WotC site. Read through it. I'll use parts of it. The nice thing was that it was written for AD&D 2nd edition, and not d20, which makes it more useful overall. I also found the original stats for Dragotha...

Now, I just need to whip out some surrounding maps and then fill them. I don't expect a TPK, but I do expect the party to be scared and wearing brown.

Hey Serl... I know you said you found the stats for Dragotha, but was just wondering if you knew of the article in Dragon mag issue #134, page 29.

Stats:

FREQUENCY: Unique

NO. APPEARING: 1

ARMOR CLASS: -3

MOVE: 12”/24” (MC: E)

HIT DICE: 19 (152 hp)

% IN LAIR: 99% (see below)

TREASURE TYPE: H, S, T, U, W x 2 (see below)

NO. OF ATTACKS: 3

DAMAGE/ATTACK: 5-12/5-12/6-36

SPECIAL ATTACKS: Breath weapons; spell

use; disease; fear aura; creation of

undead followers

SPECIAL DEFENSES: Surprised only on a 1

on 1d12; spell and psionic immunities

(see below); immune to electricity;

regeneration; takes half damage from

edged weapons; cannot be turned by

clerics

MAGIC RESISTANCE: 15%

INTELLIGENCE: Supra-genius

ALIGNMENT: Neutral evil

SIZE: L (48’ long)

PSIONIC ABILITY: Nil

Attack/Defense Modes: Nil/Immune to all

attacks

CHANCE OF:

Speaking: 100%

Magic use: 100%

Sleeping: Nil

LEVEL/XP Value: X/30,560

The 'see below' part is a two-page article, so kind of hard to cut and paste. Let me know if you want anymore. I would assume you already know about this, just making sure.

Thanks, Kim. Someone at Dragonsfoot had actually put the entire article up, so I printed it. Saved me the hassle of digging through the Dragon Archive to check for it.
