Glad You know I love your work - and if you dont - I really do ....
I want to offer a bit of critism that might help you in the future.

It's those damn Lizardmen blacksmiths, I tell ya'! All their weapons come out askewed and I've talked to them numerous times about it....but you know Lizardmen, they never listen to us ssssstupid humansssss.
In all seriousness, you're exactly right...it is a bit off. I guess all of us are allowed a slip up now and again.
But thanks for the kind words, as well. I'm glad you like my art. It makes the doodling all worth while when others like it a little bit too.

As my art instructors always said. "The last picture is practice for the next one."

OMG, that is one brave halfling! Great drawing.
Thanks!
And yeah, I tend to either have my halflings in scenes where they're totally wussified or brave to the point of being stupid. This one happens to be the latter.
Who knows, maybe the halfling rolled a natural 20 and puts the horn on his helmut right into the Hook Horror's eye! First hit, dead Hook Horror! LOL!
As the dwarf walks off mumbling, "damn halflings."

one of my first ever AD&D characters (back in the day) was a halfling thief named Fred, the Fearful/less. The party never knew if he would be brave to the point of suicide or simply run for his life. Sometimes I would roll a die to decide which way to go. Led to much fun. Fred created a great story line, by deciding to be fearless, when the party was faced by an assassin demon. Fred stabbed the thing, was knocked across the room, picked up the party who all ran. Ever after, whenever the party was down and out, sure enough, up would pop that assassin demon again seeking revenge for the limp Fred gave it. ahh, fun times...

Those are some really nice looking pieces. I especially like your Gnoll, though I think he's in for a kicking in the first round of combat with such a small melee weapon... maybe it's a trick to get adventurers to heedlessly charge him!?

Thanks, Matthew!
A gnoll is so big compared to most other humanoid characters that his smallish weapon would still do a fair amount of damage, I would guess. His shield is designed as a slashing weapon, as well. The two working in tandem would be a deadly combo from an 8 foot gnoll.
And don't overlook his third and most deadly weapon in close quarters combat.....dog breath.

Great picture Glad! It definately makes you think about what is going to happen next! Will the Elf get speared? Or will the Dwarf Spearman be quicker off the mark and harpoon the leaping Bullywug? And will ol Stuntytoes the Halfling be able to remove his underwear from his ars_crack after that hyper wedgy from the other Wug? Only time will tell?

Damn, Andy....you see more than I do in my OWN doodles! I need you to write a synopsis after each of my drawings. You make them waaaay more interesting than I ever had intentions for them to be.

I might have wandered off on an AD&D 1e tangent (where weapon length determines first strike during a charge).
Nice looking Bullywug picture! (or should I say 'generic frogman', stupid Wizard's IP).

Nice. Very vicious looking. Poor old Troglodytes, I don't think they win very many battles.

I always thought of Trogs as stinky, smaller cousins of Lizardmen. Good cannon fodder once a party got tired of fighting the traditional 1 hd creatures like goblins, orcs and Bullywugs.
Aye. I think the work you did on the face is really cool. I think it is pretty difficult to conceptually differentiate Troglodytes from Lizard Men, but I think you've done a good job with this. This guy feels as though he's somewhere between a Bullywug and a Lizard Man (reminds me a bit of an iguana with that fin and smallish maw).

The Trog I drew was based on a description over at Dragonsfoot. Chris, who wanted the illo, described them as between 5 and 6 feet tall, with a finned crown, legs and arms. Unlike the original 1e description, I don't think they had fins on their legs or arms. Lizardmen (at least the ones I draw) compared to Troglodytes are a bit more muscular in their builds, taller, and don't necessarily have the finned crowns anywhere on their bodies. I draw the muzzles a bit different, as well.
I would not want to draw a gaggle of Lizardmen, Troglodytes and Yuan-ti all intermingling with one another...talk about very subtle differences amongst them, especially from the waist up.
