Thanks, Matthew, glad you like it........and yeah, this party looks like it's between an Otyugh and a hard place.
What a time for that elf to take a nap!
Who knows, maybe that old-timer has one last good battle left in him and saves the day. Naaaaaaaaaah.

Great artwork once again Glad. I really dig your immersive battle scenes.
And I have to say you are one of the best artists I have seen at really
realistically drawing hands. I need to read your hand tutorial. But I'm a tad lazy when it comes to drawing, I just scrawl em down in one sitting.
I'm not one to rub out and amend. Thus your detailing is way better than mine....impressive.

Yeah, I guess you don't become and "old" fighter unless you've been a good fighter in your adventuring life.
And thanks, Andy...I appreciate the vote of confidence in my hands! I'm always striving to make them look better (even though I don't particularly think that I draw them all that well) but I guess every artist is their own worst critic.
Not that I'm any kind of art teacher and you certainly don't need me telling you how to draw...you do that just fine yourself, but if hands give you a fit, which seems to be the case for a lot of artists, I can tell you how I go about them.
I usually envision a rectangular/square block and add the digits (fingers) to it depending on the angle I need my hand posed. And you obviously add a little "meat" or flesh to the sides of the block to flesh out the hand. Another thing I do ALL THE TIME is look at my own hand for reference. I can't count how many times I look at my own mits to get the angle I need or how many times I've held a broom handle to get the right "look" for a hand holding something. If I need the hand I draw with (in other words, my right hand) I pose my left hand in a mirror that I have close to my drawing table....that always helps. And last but not least, even though we're all human and we all know that our fingers have joints, many artists seem to throw that notion right out the window and completely forget about it. They end up drawing fingers that basically look like worms with absolutely no bones in them whatsoever. If you get in the habit of looking at your hand as basically a big block with bendable digits coming from one side of it and keep those bends within the confines of what an actual finger can do, an artist should be able to get a bit better at them.

Chortle! Chortle! "Now with 30% more hoof"?
Is that a good thing?
I think I will go with Glad's sterling idea of using a mirror to draw his own hands. As you generally need a reverse angle for artwork.
If I am ever drawing Mickey Mouse I will use Jay's model above.

@ that last line.
And yes, buddy....the mirror is your friend. Although my ugly mug is not a site I enjoy seeing in one of those damn things, it does help with getting facial expressions and hands a little bit closer to what you might want in your drawings.
Just don't become a Narcissus.

Great looking piece. I especially like your knight with the mace; very cool.

I think Gary would love it. I know I do.
Now I need to go hide so Jaybird can't "hurt me".

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

For anyone who wants to see Glad's amazing detail up close and personal, I just had a successful test run with some zoom & scan flash code. Eventually, we'll each have a Zoom & Scan gallery of select art on Three-Headed Troll, but for now enjoy these direct links to two of Glad's bigger pieces.
The 450 pixel maximum height of our normal gallery just doesn't do them justice. Behold!
