A friend conviced me to try The Dresden Files at a con this last weekend. I was really surprised how much I liked it and am quite intrigued by the system.

My only question is how well do Fate style games hold up to campaign play vs one-offs?

In general, FATE works better for long-term play. The problem with one-offs, in my opinion, is that it takes too long to generate FATE characters and figure out what they can do. When you have multiple game sessions, this isn't so much of a problem and players get to figure out their characters better.

If you have experienced FATE players, one offs are very easy to do. I've even done a one off using; Spirit of the Century with 3 people never even new the game existed. It took longer to make up characters, but once done they had a pretty good idea how the game worked and a little extra effort, on my part, they had a lot of fun.

Really it just comes down to who you play with.
