Dragon Warriors?

There has been a surge of "other games" topics lately, so I thought I'd weigh in with this one:
I just received the hardback rule book, the Bestiary, and The Sleeping Gods from Troll and Toad. I became interested in this game after stumbling upon it by accident. Overall, I LOVE the feel of the game (the "flavor") but some of the mechanics seems bit wonky. Not necessarily bad, per se...just curiously different. Has anyone ever actually played this game and, if so, what was the experience like? I'm thinking of tapping a couple of my more open-minded gamers to give it a try with me.
Incidentally, this title has moved around a bit over the years and is now owned by
Serpent King Games, who seem to be generating an entirely new revision of the game (though details are hard to come by).

Have it, played it, liked it. I ran a one-shot for a small group a few years back with the Mongoose version and it was great fun. It's a fast-playing, fun, and easy to learn system. It's got a different kind of feel than C&C and other High Fantasy games, and tends to seem a bit grittier in play.

Awesome game, but it's hard to remember the mechanics in that game. It's certainly not intuitive like C&C is, but it's pretty dang fun. I like the simplicity of the overall character. The setting is cool too, and has a pretty unique feel.
Sleeping Gods is AWESOME! I want to turn that book into a series of C&C adventures so bad. Just haven't got around to it.

I like this game! I ran a 3-4 hour demo a couple of years back and it went pretty well. And the cover art is most excellent.

I have the Core book and the Bestiary. Ran across the Core book at a game store in Tampa that has very littel in the way of TTRPGs (they mostly do Warhammer and Magic) and was suprised to see this book tucked in with the few 4e and PF books they had there. I visited it a few times before finally picking it up. Gave it a decent go through and then bought the Bestiary off of Ebay for about 10 bucks or so. Overall, it's pretty neat. Echoing some others, the rules aren't as intuitive as C&C, for example, but I do like the feel the game radiates.

Picked up the PDFs for the Beastiery and Main Rulebook before they switched over to Serpent. Been a while since I looked at, and have yet to play it. Interesting take though from what I remember. You roll low to hit. So a natural 1 is a success.
Eventually I'll get around to playing it

The only thing different that Serpent King Games did with Dragon Warriors was to add the errata to the 2008 core book. They are simply insuring the game stays in print, first by re-printing all the material Magnum Opus Press re-published beginning in 2008 (from the original 1986 material). Then by printing new material. I believe the next new thing up is a Players Options book.
Also there is a great fan-zine magazine for the game called Ordo Draconis.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm really interested in giving this game a go. I'm also interested in trying this one:
I have the PDFs and I'm waiting for the boxed set to arrive. Looking at the PDF, this is really more a matter of "flavor" on top of existing OD&D rules. In other words, I think this game could easily be pulled off with S&W and some theme-building by the GM. The author, James Edward Raggi IV, has an excellent sense of "weird" fantasy - kind of a medieval fantasy/cthulhu blend.
