Twenty minutes! And this is what happened.
So we wait ages for the new Rappan Athuk to arrive and finally I have the PDF's, but instead I decide to start with the Wizards Amulet and then onto the Crucible of Freya. After that I tell them we can start the Mouth of Madness and then the rest as it gives me time to read up the books. For the first time the players agree that this time they are going to do a campaign properly, no infighting , everyone Lawful/good and we all communicate with each other and work together. I thought " well done, this game might actually last".
Or so I thought...
They all sat around and made up two characters each just so they could have a good balance.
Neil: Paladin of Muir and a Cleric of Muir.
James: Cleric of Muir and a dwarven thief (LG?) yeah I know but he kept on going on about him a scout not a street thief so I said yeah why not.
Seb: Mage and dwarven fighter ( LG).
And they took their time creating backgrounds and stories; I had an in-depth starting theme for them (not the one from the WA).
So they leave the now destroyed temple of Muir and head south towards Fairhill, the first encounter as per the book was a baby leucrotta ( sp?) and its mother that was trying to teach it to hunt. The baby did not surprise the dwarven warrior that was on guard. The dwarf struck the baby with his warhammer and dealt serious damage, the baby turned to kick but fumbled and the dwarf finished it, ( mother was not happy).
So mummy charges the party (now awake) and attacks the dwarf that killed her baby (she missed).
The party " except the mage " who stood back, surrounded the mother Leucrotta and dealt serious damage, she was down to 6hp when the mage in all his intelligence casts a sleep spell centred on the mother leucrotta and puts the entire party to sleep !!
Mother kills sleeping party, then kills mage.
Game over ! Roll up new characters.
What an idiot!! But we still love em!

PS: The second group did actually make it to Fairhill.
PPS: And yep using C&C rules S&W is easy to convert.

Re: The quickest campaign ever!!
Actually the real reason was I kept the other players busy making up new characters so they didn't sacrifice Seb to Orcus (They are still in shock funny enough)
