I'm looking at S&W or BFRPG to begin teaching my son (4) who is showing interest in playing. The game is great for straight up dungeon crawls or pick ups. I added a bit more here and there for campaigning and have enjoyed the results. The game I run is a mash-up of core and WB with the thief added in as the fourth archetype.

I really like BFRPG, I almost chose it over C&C back in the day. Lots of great PDF support too.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
