Monster Alphabet Kickstarter

The
Kickstarter for the Monster Alphabet (and GM Gems) just started. I get a ton of use out of their previous publication, the Dungeon Alphabet, and this looks to be another great effort. System neutral tables and quirks for the beasties of your campaign.

Yeah, I've always much preferred Ultimate Toolbox over Dungeon Alphabet, but I'll keep an eye on this and see where it goes, so might back it by the end.

Ultimate toolbox and this one sound tempting. I don't know how much I need the monster stats but if they're are other goodies, they might be useful.

Ultimate Toolbox literally has thousands of tables based on the D20 to help a GM generate just about anything you can imagine. Dungeon Alphabet, which is what Monsters Alphabet is based upon, is a lite, lite, LITE version of Ultimate Toolbox. So while being focused on the "monsters" makes it a little unique, I have tables in Ultimate Toolbox which already help me do much the same thing. Which is why I am not terribly interested in this KS. The GM Gems is actually of a little more interest to me, but since I have already read so much "GMing advice" over the years, I seriously doubt this will give me anything new, just remind me of things that I have forgotten, and that I could be reminded of again by simply breaking out the old GM advice stuff I already own and rereading them.
So for anyone who is relatively new to gaming, and doesn't have decades of stuff accumulated, these would be great first buys. For me, it just looks like I would be buying a different version of stuff I already own.

I loved the Dungeon Alphabet. To me, it was worth it just for the great Old-School Art!

Unless AEG is still selling print copies from their web site, or you get lucky and find a print copy in some store, yeah, PDF only.

They are not.

I've never caught one being on eBay either. Apparently those of us who bought it like to hold on to it.

There are a few on Amazon, but for those prices, I'd go with PDF, unless you really hate PDF...

I would bet Noble Knight has a copy or two as well...
Edit: I was wrong, Noble Knight hasn't had it in stock since June...

Me too. At first, I did seem to like the info, but later it didn't seem like there was much that really new or fresh.
I'll have another look, if I can find where it is.
Also, I'll have a look at the new release and depending on price ~ might purchase.

Oh yeah, the art is completely awesome in it. I turn to the Dungeon Alphabet whenever I’m stuck or need to make things more interesting.
Went in for both Monster Alphabet and GM Gems without reservations.

Indeed. It's been a staple at my gaming table, regardless of game/system/genre, since I acquired the first Toolbox book. Ultimate Toolbox just rocks. A shame it's not still in print.
