City of Brass

Post by Omote »

Recently, Necromancer released its long, loooong, loooooong awaited mega project, City of Brass. This box set is literally filled to the brim with material weighing in at like 5 lbs, I swear.

While I've only glanced throigh it and read about 50 continous pages, I have to say that this is going into my Necroworld campaighn immediately.

Another awesome box set (at least from my limited amount of time with it so far) from the guys at Necro. Seriously.

I'll post a better review as I plow thorugh this weighty material.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I think he means the NG world.

Anyways, this is one of those products I really want to get, but will have to be put on the big wish list of stuff right now. There's just too much for a dwarf to snatch up at the moment.

Generally, the generic setting of some of the Necromancer Games products that somewhat tie together.

The early modules all had a common setting although no actual setting book published. Fans would tie the modules together to make their campaign setting.

I ran a "Necriworld" setting for awhile Crucible of Freya, Tomb of Abysthor and other modules, building a campaign setting through the use of the modules.

No, he means it how DD described. I kind of did the same thing using it to build up the area around CSIO when I ran my last 3.5 Campaign in WL.

Yeah, the term Necroworld is indeed based on the Necromancer Games products and tying them together. It's a homebrew campaign, but using many of the similar Necromancer Games products for the basis of the world.

Currently for my Necroworld campaign I use these Necromancer Products for the basis:

Crucible of Freya

Tomb of Abysthor

Demons & Devils

Rappan Athuk Reloaded

Bardsgate

Lost City of Barakus

Shades of Gray

Been successfully running a campaign in this "Necroworld" setting for about a year now, and it's going great.

I have bought every version done and this is far and away the best done and most loyal to how I had always envisioned it, but much better. One of Necromancers best products.

One of my favorite RPG supplements of all time. Easily one of the best box sets ever put out. There is like 550 pages worth of content JAM-PACKED into the box set, and maps aplenty. The product is a v3.5 product. That means, you get a fair amount of stat blocks in typical 3E glut. However, the material contained within is just gold IMO. The area around the City of Brass is fully detailed. There is plenty of room to expand whatever you need.

I'll admit that there are a few hokey things in there... like a M1A1 Abrahms Battle Tank and the like, but that is a weird part. Easily changed though.

The writing is really good. Written by TLG's own Casey Christofferson, there are some very unique aspects to the CoB that makes this box set feel different and expanded from all other versions of this fantastic city. As Treebore said, this is easily the best version of the CoB.

Omote Rating: 9.0 / 11.0. The only reason I rate it that low is because of the bloat of 3E statistics. Most of those are contained within only one of the three books which are included in the box set. Otherwise, this box set would be a 10.5!

Sir Robilar's City of Brass from Kenzer & Company for Hackmaster is a lot of fun and has plenty of good info in it. Might want to check that one out as an option.

Thanks guys !

I'll be looking foward to playing it, I think I may link it to part of a Planescape campaign. Thanks for the link treebore but I managed to get a new copy from e-bay ( only 27.00) so I got myself a good deal since I saw other copies for 69.00.

Cheers
