4e DM Screen

Post by DangerDwarf »

Got my 4e Dm screen in the mail today.

It is....WOW!

It is the thick kind of screen. Not as thick as the DH screen, but if you take your C&C PHB, check the front cover...it's just a smidgeon thinner than that.

The artwork adorning it is amazing as well. Top notch.

Also, it is a landscape oriented screen to boot! So its not too high.

It is drool-worthy. I'm tempted to order a 2nd one and print up land-scape oriented C&C tables and make a CK screen out of it too.

Glad you're liking the screen. I know there was some people raging on the Wizards forum that the screen was produced without some DC errata or somesuch. Glad you're liking it!

As far as the landscape CK sheets go, if you know where some are, pass me a bone, will ya? I couldn't find any, so I was gonna make them myself but I've been lazy. I need them for my Savage Worlds Customizable GM Screen. If you haven't checked it out, it's pretty dang sweet in its own right.

Yeah, I've got one of them SW ones as well. Mine cracked too easy around the folds though.

I had made up a CK sheet for that screen, but alas that computer died and the file with it. If I quit being lazy I'll do it again.

Man, sorry to hear about your screen....mine's been holding up like a champ.

I hear ya on the lazy thing. I'm such a bum, it's almost criminal.

I'm pretty careful with my stuff, and mine cracked too. However, I think I accidentally stacked something on it, or it got damaged traveling to too many cons. It's not completely loose, but I put tape on some of it to play it safe. Gonna get as much use out of it as I can until it falls apart. By and large, I love the SW screen.

You had me until you said landscape. I dont like the landscape screens, theyre never tall enough for my liking. I still love my DH and WFRP2 revised screen

My SW screen cracked as well. Kind of made me mad when it happened cause its a little pricey for a blank screen. The DH screen kicks serious a**e. You can even use it to beat mouthy players with minimal damage.

Been thinking about the problem with the SW screen, because the plastic that holds the "wings" of the screen together are so thin they should probably be oiled in some way to keep them from getting brittle. Maybe use olive oil (in small amounts). Don't know if theres an industrial plastic oil or not. Oh well for now black electrical tape holds mine together right now.

Great minds think alike. I also wondered about oiling parts of the screen. And, I have some electrical tape on mine as well. Actually, I think I need to put more on my screen. hehe

Haven't seen it, but sounds like it's similar to the the Dark Heresy Screen, which is also made of a very heavy book cover/card stock. I was very impressed by that. Though in the case of Dark Heresy it's not landscape, its four panel and made 'standard' size. I have a few landscape ones - D&D 3.5, Paizo's D&D screen, D20 Modern, M&M. But to me, it' doesn't really matter, thought I would prefer a 'standard' size over landscape - IMHO it does a better job at keeping away the peering eyes of players!
Yeah, I'd love to see the Trolls do something similiar as part of the 4th Crusade. Don't get me wrong, I do dig the CK Screen as it is, but having something a bit heavier would be nice, too. I'd find a use for both them
I do wonder if they could do something similar to what Kenzer & Co did with the Hackmaster Screen and Kingdoms of Kalamar screen. Obviously CK is more of a rules lite so their might not be a need for 36 different flip panels (though maybe a pizza matrix might come in handy). But maybe a few flip panels to allow for some Codex: Erde/Winter Dark setting info at the tip of the CK's fingers so to speak. Plus they could use the reverse side of the panels for more cool art that sets the tone of the adventure for the players from traveling/exploring to combat.

WoTC always had good production values.

True. I can't think of anything that has been made like total crap. Now if only they would get their editing act together, I am tired of all the mistakes.

The screen is awesome. I like it better than the DH screen due to the bound nature of the folding parts. I would totally dig a CK screen of this caliber.

Best DM screen ever... the Hackmaster DM screen... I mean... it even has a table for ordering your pizza.
