Is anyone on the TLG boards excited? I am for some reason, not sure why though.

I want to see the book for sure, particularly to see how PF ends up working certain mechanics. More though, I plan to mine the classes for certain mechanical ideas for C&C.

No, I can't say I am that excited. There may be some things in it that are fun or useful, but I have pretty much abandoned all "in-print" games, except C&C, and even then I don't play it much as written (I do so love to add things,) using lots of stuff from other games like The Arcanum or Talislanta (simply because they are nearly identical) or whatever I feel like creating... have found it hard to get excited about any game, really, and that sucks.

I'm excited for those that still play D20. For me though I may look at it but probably won't buy it.

I'm excited, even though I'm not sure I'll buy it. I don't plan on using it to add to my own 3.5 campaign, but I play in another 3.5 game in which it might be used. I was pretty psyched for it at first, but then I really became taken by C&C.

In general, I still find it very cool that Paizo took the path they did and it will be curious to see how well their game does.

I'll buy it. I liked the Beta, so wish to see the finished product. Heck I even want the Bestiary.

I'm buying, I am more interested in what they will do down the road to truly streamline the rules, but I will buy it to see what they have done so far.

If not for C&C I would be excited, looking at the Beta it fixes some of the problems I had with 3E, but still not what I want from table top RPG.

It will be intersting to see how many actually sell. IIRC for their Alpha test they around 20,000 downloads of the game, if they sell on to 5% of those downloaders that still a thousand people and I would think a pretty descent print run of 1,000 books. Which is probably a lowball estimate of potential buyers. I don't know what the cost is of a 1,000 books but selling them at $50.00 a pop earns them $50,000.00 to pay for everything. Of course this is purely all guess math on my part.

They sold over 5000 print copies of the Beta test rules. Maybe even 10,000. Like WOTC they are not forthcoming with exact numbers. The few thousand they had at GenCon literally sold like hot cakes, all gone within 9 hours. They had similar results at a convention over in the UK/Europe Convention.

So hopefully they will do even better with the final version.

I don't think the sales are going to be much of a problem.

In this case, this may very well be my *last* 3.5ish book.

Between the Pathfinder RPG book, the Collected Book of Experimental Might, and a couple other odds and ends geared towards modifying d20, I have enough crunch and in print variations to recreate new visions of 3.x to last several lifetimes.

Haven't looked at the downloadable versions. Perhaps it does improve upon 3 and 3.5. That wouldn't be too hard, I suppose. Either way, I've got C&C for my D&D-like fantasy, and Savage Worlds for some of their fantasy plot points, and all other genres. Probably won't need to buy Pathfinder. I do wish them well. Just imagine if this book really took off, and perhaps puts a little hurt on 4E. I'm not taking glee in that, but wouldn't it be nice for some other company to be the big boy for awhile.

To the horror of my wallet I found out today that 40 companies have signed on to the PF user license. A good half dozen or so being companies I like.

Don't cost much to slap a PFRG sticker over a d20 logo.

I doubt that is all they are doing. I know Necromancer and XRP are doing all new material.

That's amazing news, Tree. Over 40 companies? Wow. That's great news.

I am excited. Don't get me wrong, I don't know if it will "fix" my 3.5 game, because I feel my game is fine the way it is. I've had this discussion with some friedns and what PF will really mean. I think, more than anything, it will be an "im print" version of the 3.5 rules, that also enchances them and cleans them up a little.

As I said, I'm excited. Even if I don't convert any 3.5 games over to PF, I'll be buying for sure. I hope they do well with this.

I'm not excited, but I'll probably eventually check it out.

Glad to see they're full of all sort of creativity but holy crap their production schedule wouldn't leave me much money for other games if I tried to keep up.

I'm pretty excited about the Paizo-produced modules, which show a lot of good thought given towards the DM who has to run the things.

Paizo has proved itself to be one hell of a company. From their work on Dragon, keeping Greyhawk alive and now Pathfinder. This shows they may be the company to compete with WOTC and they actually seem to see their fans as partners. They show me what TLG could be in a few years if things go well.

The suck part of this is that Paizo doesn't make anything for what I play. As soon as they do though I'll be there cash in hand.

Sadly, they'll never be able to truly compete with WotC for the market, not with D&D. If they would have called 4e anything except D&D, Paizo'd be the big dog now. Or Green Ronin. Just my specualtion, though.

But they have a very healthy following, though. Good enough to keep them in bisiness and being able to crank out some wuality product.

I agree they aren't as big as WOTC and likely never will be, but I do think Paizo is "bigger" than they are given credit for. I would be willing to bet their sales fall above 20,000 per month, for all of their product lines.

There was a time, oh not so long ago, that the heart and mind beat as one... and for either to peak there interest at the new boy in town, one would surely justify oneself to buy at least the core book to, you know... just check it out.

I was that person, with hundreds of books I never played and some never even read. Its addiction was no less the trying to quit to smoke. But I have... I have broken the habit and even if you told me that each page was gilded and there where diamond insets along with a card that gives you the right to date that girl on the cover... I'd still decline.

I was ready to step away from gaming period... till C&C fell in my lap. And now I think I'll move on with that, owning only that... but willing to play other games as long as I don't need to buy anything!

In truth I do also have almost the whole set of AD&D again, which I will hold onto. I had planned to play it for old times sake, but C&C changed all that.

Nicely rhymed.

Plus one thing that attracted me to C&C was its compatibility with all editions of D&D, since I own lots of each. So I was very glad to find C&C lets me play a bit of each.

It's nice to see Paizo doing well. You're probably right about them not being able to topple WOTC. Would D&D 4 have been as succesful if not for the D&D name. Nope. Probably not. As for me, and mine, I'll be sticking to C&C, and Savage Worlds.

I wonder how much the monthly bill would be if one subscribed to all their periodicals? Their next adventure path will be a thieve's guild! And the one after that will make Birthright players happy as it is going be king building!

Cheers

I've been subscribing to Pathfinder, and I'm looking forward to the core book release. I'm behind on reading the adventures, but I like what I've seen. I doubt I'll ever get to use it all, but I'll be able to supplement my SpirosBlaak campaign with material from my Paizo collection.

Of late, C&C and Paizo's stuff are the only things I have purchased. Some of that is because money is tighter than normal, but more of it is because there hasn't been anything out that's caught my attention. I'm not playing 4e, for instance. I do have an urge to get the 4e Goodman Games modules, though, as that's a company I've always liked.

Get the 3 Punjar modules, and the Sea Drake module is pretty good too. I just ordered Dragora's *whatever* the first of their Master Dungeon line, Danger Dwarf said it is real good, and since he and I have very similar tastes I figure its a safe buy for me.

Punjar is a nicely done city of serious corruption, slavery, etc... a perfect city needing to be cleaned out of scum and villainy.

I once looked into subscribing to everything, over a year ago. At that time I was looking at it AVERAGING $120.00 (US) per month, with some months going over $200.00 (US), so I only subscribe to Pathfinder, which is under $20 per month.
