Paranoia XP

Wow...all I can say is how did I go this long without buying a copy of Paranoia? The creators of the original game put out this newer copy in 2004 and I have to say that it's even funnier to read than previous editions.

Does anyone have experience acutally GMing this game? I've just started reading it and I'm already planning on who to invite over to play (nice that no RPG experience is preffered!). The spouse even laughed when she read the back cover of the book to see what I was giggling about.

Yep, a group of us played it for 6 weeks on line a few months ago. I haven't picked up XP yet, but have intended too since they wrote it so it could be done for more long term games rather than like one shots.

Yep since the boxed set in the '80's and had a blast to, but you have to have a really good GM to run it (Like me ). I've done a few, one of the best is when I took the players outside of the city, where they discovered man eating trees (They where just normal but one of them climbed up a fairly thick leafed one, decided to drop a few leaves down, the rest thought the tree was eating him and started shooting into the canopy.) killer cleaning bots (They brought along a cleaning bot and it went mad trying to clean all the dirt.) amongst other things... but the center piece is the secret societies. (We had games where they lost half their clones and they never left the assignment complex.)

BTW ParanoiaXP is rare, Microsoft sent a cease and desist letter to them because of the XP. So all following books where just called Paranoia.

That's a riot abuot MS and the XP.

I never GMed it, but man, did we all have fun playing paranoia!

I think it was the "5th" edition that was really stupid, but I've long thought it would be fun to return to paranoia.

Fun ideas for GMs.... put out snacks such as m&ms that are sorted by color and declare any troubleshooters who eat orange or yelllow one to be commies....

introduce "cloning error" where replacement clones have two different color eyes, or 6 fingers.... (LOOK! A MUTANT!), or they accidentally send out a 7th clone (hilarity ensues) and my personal favorite: color blindness!

that game is a hoot!

Man eating trees!

Brilliant! Consider that one stolen.

Never played it, but loved reading the modules back in the mid- to late-80s. Hilarious stuff.
